In 1994 Richard Childress Racing announced they would be entering the new SuperTruck Series in ’95 with a black Goodwench #3 truck driven by Mike Skinner. RCR and Mike went on to dominate the ’95 season becoming the series first champions. Go to to sign up for an ExtraCash account and get up to $500 instantly
Only two RCR Goodwrench trucks are known to exist in original form and Richard has the other one. Mike and Angie tell us the interesting story of how they were able to acquire this truck from Richard nearly 20 years later. We also get to learn about Mike’s dynamic with Dale Earnhardt as they became teammates in the cup series, and some reflection from the Morgan-McClure Kodak car days. Check out what Mike and Angie are doing these days over on their channel @SkinnerRoundUp

Find the shirts and hat I was wearing on stapletonautoworks.com
I've been watching since the 1979 Daytona 500 I am going to be 50 I have work for Talladega superspeedway at watch the first truck race my biggest truck moment going oh shit was Geoff Bodine annihilating his truck at Daytona I guess I would be somebody you would call a superfan back in the day I have numerous Nascar related tattoos and an old collection of cars
Great interview. Always was a Mike Skinner fan. Was at Saugus speedway in CA to see one of the 1st truck races during the inaugural season. Great memories.
I miss the hell out of Mike in NASCAR and many of the others too of course. At 11:05 Mike comes of sounding great talking weight distribution, maybe we'll see more of him on broadcasts. Sure that's a pain but man itd be nice as a fan. Great video
Another great video!!!!
Couldn't watch.. to many ads.
Theres never gona be a truck on the planet that holds a candle to this original super truck… Legendary video sir!!! ❤it.
I was born in November 1996 so I wasn't around when this truck was racing but like you I remember him in the 5 truck with Jack in the 60 and Hornady in the 33. Great video as always! Would love to see the Good wood truck and the details with it.

The last good truck racer to me is Mike Wallace!
Wasn't Mike the American on the first season of The Grand Tour
Another enjoyable video.
Since you asked, I come from Tasmania in Australia and I am 62. I used to read in magazines about the "American Scene" and back in those days we had some of the major races on local television.
I have never been to the USA so have never seen a live NASCAR event. There was NASCAR racing in Australia for a while, I never went to those either.
What I do like to watch is the type of content you guys are showing, that is motorsport history especially ones like this one with the actual people involved from the time.
I watched the one from Speedway Motors last night and enjoyed every moment. Lake Jnr and the guy from Comp Cams did a great job with the comments.
Cheers.
That was a cool video. I remember when mike lived by Randleman. My friend lived in the house at the end of his driveway….lol
As a 21 year old from Cincinnati Ohio and as Dale Sr. fan, I enjoy watching these videos that you document through your channel and it's really interesting to watch you go to various places that aren't well known or as in depth unlike what you see on the internet now and days. I especially enjoyed the videos of Dale Earnhardt Sr. stories/experiences from various people who interacted or worked with him, as well as having Rusty Wallace and his brother Kenny, informing you on various pieces of information that are rarely told or not well known.
Please continue to create and document more of these videos, it gives me some sort of general idea of what the Winston Cup era was like back then compared to the present NASCAR that isn't quite the same as the past NASCAR experiences now and days. The present NASCAR rules in my opinion, can be a little too political or too strict with the rules that NASCAR enforces. Hopefully one day that will change where they can relax some of the rules that are too aggressive with the setups and other possible contributing factors that current NASCAR teams maybe having a hard time dealing with right now that they can't express publicly.
But again, I really do appreciate and thank you what you do to making these historical pieces of information being put together which then creates lots of interesting curiosity. Keep it up with the hard work!
In the 90s, especially 95 I was 6 years old playing park football with the #3 on my jersey, ironically the jersey was black and grey
We definitely need to see the good wood truck
This man is a TRUE RACER!! Great video S42!!
Great video ,Mike skinner was is a great driver..I've been a fan of Nascar seem like forever it feels like lol…I'm 47 Atleast 40 yaer.but anyway keep u the great work bud….
The truck races are almost as exciting as the cup races! Notice I said almost. And, of course the number 3 truck was the one I liked the best!
First race I went to was at Rockingham. I basically went to get out of the house . 8 of us dug out an old motor home, threw a battery in it and hauled as out of Clarion, Pa on a Friday night and pulled into Shoney’s in Rockingham and ate breakfast. On the way to the track we went over a set of railroad tracks and the shit tank fell out of the thing. That was the beginning of the addiction.
Love Mike great job y’all
Seems like a good dude. Thanks for sharing
Born in '93 on a race day the weekend of the long John 100 for Unity Raceway home track of Ricky Craven, grew up working on Racecars with my father and I watch all the videos because racing is life and the history must be carried on
Mike and his wife are legendary. You can tell he owes a lot to her she’s great. great great video❤
I was about to graduate high school in 1995. I didn’t pay much attention to the trucks…to be honest, it sounded like a gimmick to me. Years later, I prefer to watch them, as I believe the racing is better.
I saw my first race at Talladega 1979. Since I'm a Missouri native it's been great following the Wallace Brothers and Ken Schrader through the years. The price of tickets and hotels eventually became a burden, and now following racing on TV only.
skinner is still great
Angie Skinner is that wife you wanna have when you're that age, that woman is like fine wine.
as always a great video thank you
Another knockout saving some of the History and Drivers. Mr Skinner and Still a Hottie Wife Angie, thank You for giving this young man your time. Amazing episode. Thank You.
Hearing Skinner talking about safety really drives home the point in time where EVERYthing about NASCAR changed. EVERYthing.
Great interview. Really enjoy these trips down memory lane.
I started watching NASCAR around 1984 and was consumed by it until Dale was killed. That changed it for me forever. I still watch some and enjoy it but it will never be the same for me.
I was fortunate to be able to follow the trucks from the very beginning. I remember when they were just running exhibition races out west before their was an actual series. I think they would do those on Thursday night thunder and some cup guys would run just to get more attention. Some of the best racing I’ve ever seen was the trucks during the first generation of drivers. Loved Skinner, Hornaday, and lots of those early guys.
Mitchell, I honestly think your channel is the most important NASCAR related channel on YouTube. You guys are doing things the “media” should have been doing long ago and you are doing it better than they ever could. You let the guests talk and that’s something most people don’t understand. Most hosts think they are the star of the show but you understand the guest is. You may be getting imitated on a few channels now but you’ll always be the best. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Another great and informative video
I remember Skinner when he had a Body shop in Greensboro, N.C. it was like a hang out for bodywork and many other things to make a dollar and ill leave it at that.
Mike still looks amazing.
