Lucore Automotive helps build a LS powered S10 “Race Truck”! Step 1, Front Suspension!

One of the big parts about our business is helping customers move their own projects forward, not necessarily building them from start to finish ourselves. In this case we have a new customer who came to us for some assistance getting his own square body S10 “race truck” past a series of challenges. We have a lot to do with this one, and it’s going to be over multiple videos, but first things first, let’s get the front suspension figure out!

The tricky thing with hot rods, race cars, custom cars, anything that’s “not stock” or “original” is you really are never building the same exact thing twice, so the answers to similar problems are often different. Something as simple as “what springs do I need for an LS swapped S10” can very widely. In OUR case, we made a reasonably well informed guess and pulled the trigger on a Moog set to compliment our customers QA1 front shocks he provided.

Just as a heads up this will be a multi part series with this little truck as we help knock down one challenge at a time and get his machine a couple steps closer to cool and race ready. LS Swapped S10 race truck build series anyone??

Huge thanks as always to all our subscribers, followers, fans, and customers who have made our business successful and gotten our channel to where it is today. Special thanks to the SRC / Street Racing Channel / SRC Garage / Old Man’s Garage / Junkyard Digs folks for showing such amazing support for us over the past several months. Without all of you we wouldn’t be anywhere near where we are today. We hope you enjoy this one!

  1. You were only "dumb" once sense you put the 2nd spring in correctly. Obviously "smart" advanced when you corrected the 1st spring. So now your Smarter. We are so proud. LOL.

  2. Nice video can’t wait to see the next part those must be 17 on the front he should contact me I have set of 2” drop spindles and speedway tubular control arms lot more header clearance keep bringing the good stuff thanks

  3. I’m in , I really enjoy your videos Richard . I love the shop vibe , chatting with the other guys that flow in and out . Plus I love how you explain how things work and how the modifications will effect the performance of the vehicle. Thanks

  4. a lot of the springs at the cheaper end of the market feel really stiff for the first week then ,ill say "settle", about an inch and a half lower for the rest of there useful life . just a little word of warning from my experiance over the years . this could have been because of the limitations of what we could import when i was doing it also

  5. Personal experience: Those headers will work with the cheap $60 speedway tubular control arms. I run them with proform 1" over ball joints moroso 205#s and it only barley taps the header when the front SLAMS down. Fixed that with a homemade adjustable bump stop.

  6. What are your thoughts on truck arm suspension? Putting together an s10, wanting to do auto cross type events and maybe some drag and drive stuff. Just feel if it worked for nascar on road courses all these years it would be the most versatile setup.

  7. Thanks for your time! Enjoyed the video very much. Getting ready for a father/son project and am really leaning towards the s-10 since there's so many available aftermarket stuff!
