Today on Unity Motorsports Garage we do a Drag Test on David Vizard’s 2023 Ford Ecoboost Mustang
DV and I just installed his new wheel and tire combo along with Rear IRS subframe bushings and since the weather was beautiful here in NC we decided to take advantage of it by heading to our home Dragstrip Shadyside Dragway in Boiling Springs NC for some Test n Tune action.
We learned quite a bit in the 5 runs we made ( I made 4 runs and DV 1)
while I made a few mistakes we were rewarded with a 8.59 @ 81mph with me behind the wheel and of course DV had to show me up by going 8.50 @ 82mph! This is only a few numbers short of what the Stock Coyote Mustangs were running on this day as well.
Go and check out our buddies channel
@fastcarflicks6250 as Jeff has a Stock Coyote 10r80 car that has run 8.10 @ 87mph!
We have our work cut out for us but hopefully before it gets cold we can get sub 8 sec passes with just some simple engine mods!

thanks for watching
please subscribe and until next time this is Andy
I will catch you later!

Id look at getting an CVFab Race intercooler if you want to make any hot laps, the stock IC is way to small for that. Great Video.
Great video! I love this kind of stuff!!!! The fun of whittling is the same regardless of the power plant!
Great progress. Lack of Air filter helped?
Nicely done!
Awesome job
I'm impressed. Yes, it's quiet, nothing wrong with that. I'm sure there could be some exhaust improvements if you wanna go there, but it definitely runs a respectable time.
I'm also impressed with that automatic trans, sounds like you are stepping from 1st to 5th gear, so you're getting good use out of the available ratios in that gearbox.
Looking forward to seeing more of this car. I agree with DV, a little drivetrain noise isn't gonna offend the right audience in the car. It's probably not offensive, but it wasn't present before.
The weight advantage is nothing to joke about. Always use your lightest driver.
Pretty impressive! I run a Coyote s197 with TVS 2.3 on top so, me supercharger is as big as the engine on this thing. It's a loaded tub o'lard but, it'll pull 11.5 @ 121 1/4 on all season radials all day long. Just poly lower control arms out back. I had a stock 2011 manual car before and I did an 11.93 at 115 on that, mineshaft air day. Modern cars rule.
Whooohoo. Love it!
GREAT VID. AND YOUR RIGHT. I HAVE THAT RYOBI AND GREAT.
Love to see nitrous shot on that car.
One word . WOW !
Well done Guys
Onwards and Upwards
Great stuff gentlemen. Thoroughly enjoying this series. Regards Greg
That is impressive!
Great content as usual Mr Vizard and Andy. Was nice to see you two at the track and by the way video does not do that car justice the paint color and wheels look awesome. I think the whispering pony is very appropriate even my son commented on how quiet that car is.
Glad to see you’re never too old to cut a good light!
You put 40psi instead of 50 to "air" on the side of caution! Ha Ha!!!
That was so cool seeing DV make a hit! I'm genuinely impressed, but I'm also curious to know how it would do in a 1/4 mile. Sure ain't one of those old Vegas or Pintos!
Call it SBD. Silent But Deadly.
Polyquad…water injection… boost… it’s gonna gallop easily into the 10’s
Check out boomba racing. They have an intake manifold and throttle body spacer combo that they claim makes pretty good hp/torque gains. And they’re tapped for nitrous or water injection.
Seeing DV make a pass made my day!!!!!
I really enjoyed watching this. I'm actually a big fan of that 2.3 ecoboost. I HAD one, but it was in a Focus, the Focus RS to be exact. I looked for 2 years for the specific package of Focus RS and drove a long way to buy it, totalled that MF'er in 1 week and 1 day…
,,, DV and Andy, putting the will to the whisp ,,, !
What bushings did DV put in the rear subframe?
Andy; Nice Quarter Horse. v/r wh
You guys are nailing it. Nice runs.
Great video Andy!
Well done guys. Awesome result!
David, the oil you sell and promote, can I use it in the Eco-Boost ? We own one also.
Well worth viewing this and all your series. Wheels look great. Whispering Pony it is.
very informative and different keep it up please
ok, I have to go back and follow this build. BTW, that car is clean, it doesn't even look like the windshield is in it. DV could shave a tenth off his time if he left his wristwatch off, what is that? a grandfather clock?
Good video, my son had a 19' and now you have me wanting to take it to the track
Good show great run
The beauty of the 2.3 Ecoboost is the go fast bits for Focus RS.
That was great guys!
With 1200 miles on the car, how much fuel economy and hp do You Guys think has already been lost Due to Dirt being inside the Engine?
A Lamborghini Engine typically loses 37 hp in the first 4000 miles.
Removal of Entrained and Dissolved Air in the FUEL (in the tank), will restore most of the lost Fuel Economy and lost Engine Output.
The silent shetland
I had an 86 thunderbird turbocoupe with a boost controler running 12.30 107 1/4
I don't think you mentioned whether the removal of the air filter helped?
