  1. Early 2000’s, the last flat tappet cam I’ve used, I had to break in a Comp Cams XE284H in my 400 Pontiac. I was so worried about losing a lobe I used every trick!
    Crower Cam-Saver Hyd lifters
    Spray graphite lube
    Isky Rev Paste
Brad Penn non-detergent 30 weight oil
    Lucas zinc additive
    Pre-lubed the engine
    * I did not remove the inner spring on the Crower dual valve springs. All went well; 400 is still running today.

  2. Bummer that you lost the footage but on the bright side it just means we get to go through the process again on a different motor. 🙂 Love all your detail keep them coming.

  3. Back in the early 90's I worked for a Top Alcohol Funny car team out of Tacoma. When I started there, they were doing the old "tractor valve adjustment" like what is described in this video. So one day I showed them the "as the intake is closing adjust the exhaust valve, as the exhaust is just opening adjust the intake valve procedure", which in a back to back comparison confirmed there was more lift to be had on (I think it was) the exhaust valves using the method I showed them. From that day on they still use that method

  4. Ultra gray is better than the black and the blue silicone sealants. Stands up well on circle track engines. Anxious to see the dyno pulls on this engine I run street stock class and can't find any data on dyno runs with 350 sbc using 450 lift cams. What you are building is very close to the rules we have at our track. We run 72cc heads though not the small chambers you are using. Also we use the 4412 holley 500cfm. How about doing a pull on that engine using a 500 circle track carb to see how it runs. The cam used in your engine is spec for a street stock 450 lift 2 barrel engine.
