I’ve loved racing my whole life, from grudge racing to road racing, and I’ve covered it for magazines, for Backfire News, and now for Backfire Racing. These days I mostly watch from the stands. And from out here, the disconnect between promoters, sanctioning bodies and fans is getting hard to ignore.
***Edit to add one thought I didn’t get in there: This season F1 could end in America if the war threatens the last two finale races, so that puts even more ????? about making these decisions around USA races***
In this one:
🏁 F1 had its most-watched U.S. season ever in 2025, then moved to Apple TV. Did America stop watching, or did it just stop being easy to find?
🏁 Why the Apple deal is actually brilliant (yes, really)
🏁 Kimi Antonelli could clinch the title in Austin, and Mercedes is reportedly planning Russell’s engine penalty for Las Vegas. Bad timing for the best storyline F1 has had in years.
🏁 WRC is coming back to America in 2027, and rally still has a spectator problem
🏁 The generational bridge: broadcast TV people vs. “just show me the clip” people
🏁 Why the answer to “where do I watch GT World Challenge?” is just… YouTube
Do you watch full races or just highlights? Be honest. I’ll be in the comments.
