I drove one of these once . It was bagged on Dayton wheels . Was all factory body an interior. Just a sweet ride
I think the first time I saw McGann in a car video was when Hot Rod picked up a black 1971-2 Malibu and put a blower on it to prove it was affordable to slap together a street machine in a weekend. The affordability of A bodies even then was questionable, and I thought, "geez, why not nab a G body instead? room for any engine, a perimeter frame to hold the torque, and they're affordable". And so here we are.
Minnesota has such a great car/hot Rod culture.
GM used the "A-body" designator for their intermediates from 1964 thru 1981, then switched to the "G-body" designator in 1982 when they re-assigned "A" to a front-drive platform. The one exception was the 1969 – 72 Pontiac Grand Prix and the 1970 -72 Chevy Monte Carlo; they were given the "G-body" designation because of their extended wheelbase. Also as a sidenote; the torque monster Olds 455 would swap right in place of that 307 using it's motor mounts. Perfect opportunity to showcase the nearly-new Rocket Performance heavy-duty 455 block.
Super cool I've always been a sucker for the G-Body cars being muscle car instead of grannies daily.
Lost me at Gen 3 hemi, leave it the Buick Turbo 6, they'll make just as much if not more than a built v8
Blasphemy
Must be nice not to have to worry about a smog test.
Specifically what steering box did you put in the car?
Dang Jon, no love for the Oldsmobile Cutlass built on the g-body platform?
You forgot Oldsmobile Cutlass. It was the number one selling car in the US in 1980, 1981 and 1983. It was GMs top selling G body.
CAR CRAFT! I MISS car craft magazine 🙁 want to see the brand return, even as a video series.
Lowrider people waiting on you guys to put hydraulics!
Came here to see all the grown as men crying like little babies lol was not disappointed
Its GBody or No Body….My first car was a 86 Regal with a 307. It was blue on blue with the 15 inch Rally Wheels. I've owned 6 G Body cars since 1994 the Regal and the Olds were my Favorites. Someday I will build my Dream Regal or Olds GBody. Ls or 454 454 backed with a Tremec 5speed or maybe a M22 Rock Crusher 12 bolt rear. The wheels on this car are FuGUGLY A set of Craigers or Keystones would have been better even a set of Stock 15inch Rally wheels look better than what is on it…those wheels Ewwww.
I love g body cars the first 2 I bought were El Caminos they saved my back alot of stress loading the bed with go carts and minibikes
What's with an AD every 3min?
307 Olds to 455 Olds is really easy, can even keep AC (might have to notch the AC Evap box and patch with fiberglass). A built Olds 455 with the NEW Edelborck olds heads, a custom roller cam and the 495 Stroker kit could twist that regal into a pretzel and should be good enough to put in respectable times at drag week https://youtu.be/EO-4t2pc5sI
Why did you change the wheels
How is it that this isn’t even on motortrend on demand. Why do I even pay for it if they don’t have all of their programs on it.
B.S. on rear wheels?
Totally disregarded the Oldsmobile brand.
We’re gonna put a hemi: immediately leaves channel not intreasted in the fuckery
Great build so far!
Didn’t know Costco sold red loctite!!
QA1 need to start making some Harley shocks!! They would looks good!!!!
myyyy favorite buick forever
❤ those Buick rims. Had them on all my GM cars back in the 80s.
88 was the last year for the gbody
Wiggle your bearing too much and your playing with it…
Love that it’s getting a hemi! Gonna make all the ls boner guys cry… lol
