One of the key elements to owning a successful drag strip is to obviously have a passion for the sport and for Jason Collins, drag racing isn’t just a business investment but also his hobby. He forged a relationship with FuelTech after hosting many test sessions and events for the popular engine management system company. So, when it came time to select an EFI system for his brand-new racecar, the decision was an obvious one and he turned to his friends at FuelTech.
SRC Motorsports built this late-model Camaro and it features a massively sized Musi Racing 959ci that cranks out 2,894 WHP on just four of the eight stages of nitrous oxide. The goal is to race the car in Southern Nitrous Racers Association (SNRA) and at various Outlaw Pro Modified competitions around the southeast. Collins came to FuelTech to participate in the highly touted Advanced Dyno Training session to learn more about his new engine management system and tap into the vast knowledge base of the technical staff assisting him.
The Advanced Dyno Training session includes eight hours of one-on-one training using your vehicle on the Mainline hub dyno as you learn about your PowerFT engine management system. FuelTech handles the driving chores, enabling you to focus on your time with the FuelTech customer service staff. Included in the session is a complete data log analysis of the runs and advanced help in creating the ECU maps or troubleshooting issues. Topping it off, FuelTech even throws in a flash drive with professionally curated photography and videos of your experience as well as feeding the group lunch.
Collins got to review the FT600 engine management system that he has wired into his Camaro and all of its capabilities in engine and power management. The FT600, FT550, FT550LITE, and FT450 offer a complete line-up of standard features including sequential injection and ignition, O2 Closed Loop, data logger, delay box, Boost Controller, Nitrous Controller, traction control, and so much more. FuelTech’s features and capabilities for nitrous-enhanced combinations are the reason it is growing quickly with that community of racecars.
One of the highlighted FuelTech products on the Camaro is the Peak and Hold Pro, a relatively new component in the advanced product line. The Peak and Hold PRO controls the low impedance fuel injectors and is programmable, allowing the user to adjust the amperage using the fuel injector data. It can also run diagnostics and set fail-safe thresholds to prevent faulty injectors from causing catastrophic engine failure. The new Peak and Hold PRO is a dual-channel box, meaning it can run up to eight fuel injectors and two boxes are needed to run up to 16 injectors.
From nitrous-powered Pro Modifieds to the professional and amateur Drift competitors, there is a reason you’re seeing #FuelTechEverywhere
