Before this rare drop top 1970 Satellite heads over to Kiwi’s for some much needed quarter panel repairs, the owner wants to get her mechanically sound, and that’s our mission with her.
But, before we dig in, let’s take a walk around this car, talk about some of the unique features of the 1970 Plymouth B Bodies and look at what separates a convertible unibody from a standard hardtop or sedan.

  1. I FINALLY GET IT! I've been following you for about two years and you've shown me your knowledge. Now I finally understand your passion for these cars. Thanks Uncle Tony, I appreciate you.

  2. Thankfully the current owner hasn't made a roadrunner or GTX clone out of this…..Tons of original Belvederes and Satellites gave up their souls because someone cloned them out as we all know.

  3. Nice car. Make sure we see it when it's done please. I grew up under a 70 Road runner. Hemi orange, 383 hp. We put 5 clutches in it before we learned about Pilot bearings. Dumb kids!. Great car. Many stories. It had air shocks on a solenoid dump valve, with a switch mounted next to the air grabber switch. Little orange light in the air cleaner. It never lost a race. But, When you pulled those two switches, the car jumped up (this was 1978) the hood opened and something orange coming out from under the scoop, we left most competition at the light with their mouths open.☺

  4. It looks way better, without that crease and roof. Front and rear don't exite me, though. Nevertheless, it's probably the best post-Exner design of that series. However, if there were thousands of these left, I'd talk Kiwi into ironing out those fake scoops ruining those rear quarter panels.
Yeah, post-Exner cheap plastics and boring instrument panels likely played a major role in keeping Chrysler Corporation in 3rd place

  5. Studebaker,(well actually Avanti) had 7×15 Magnum 500 wheels. They didn't have the trim rings, they were chrome.I have a set of 5 that supposedly were on the Motor Trend Avanti test car in the mid 70s.Actually, that would have been the Avanti II.They have the Magnum 500 logo on the centers. The Motor Trend story may have been a bunch of BS, but I got them for a decent price at the time, and will go on my '65 Stude Daytona when it's finished.
That's one beautiful Plymouth there! Did any of those B bodies come with a slant 6?

  6. Convertible has a different windshield beefier A piller less rake. How do l know had the 70 rr my high school car. Might of been a 67 coronet windshield. Also the rts had a 150 speedo printed as 15.❤

  7. Love the 1st RR. But always felt the 70 RR had the best look. I was a participant in 1973 Plymouth Trouble Shooting Contest!!! Placed 6th in our region. Confoundedly the test took place at my HS but I was part of my occupational school against my classmates that took automotive classes with me!¿!

  8. I just saw a very nice 1970 Road Runner in a parking lot the other day. I respectably parked my 1978 Lil Red 1 space away from it. As I was checking it out, the owner came up and we got to talking cars n trucks. It was a very nice conversation, especially after I told him that I'm a GM square body guy at heart. He laughed and admitted that he owns 2 square body trucks himself.

  9. That is a pity sexy model Plymouth especially with the drop top down and that feisty front end look and her sexy quarter panel hips air vent love handles hair trimming jewels and not to even talk about her rear where have you been all my life what clean and beautiful car.

  10. I think it is so important, from this point forward, to keep the Satellites and the Belvedere as they were, flat hoods, basic interiors, instead of turning them into clone Roadrunners. Once these originals are gone, they are gone! I had a neighbor with a four door model and it was so neat to see, no mods, just a nice, straight four door that no one ripped the front end off for another car or just drove it into the ground.

  11. Hello. I was Thinking about bore and stroking a 340 ci Way over its limit. Almost to the point of block failure. For instance I am just using numbers let's say I bore number one cylinder 0.60 Skipping a cylinder on the right side. Would also be 0.60? And then drive aside from the firewall would be 0.60 Add a staggering sequence towards the front. Every cylinder in between will be.040. Would that weaken the block or would it throw it off balance? Let me know if I'm drinking and smoking too much. Sorry I don't know my firing order. Love the show keep going.

  12. I just emailed you this question. I have a 73 Scamp and I adjusted the torsion bars the passenger side works as it should but the driver side after I adjusted it and sat in the car it goes back to the lowest point but the bolt is still all the way up. Can you please help me figure out what I need to do to get it repaired? When I turn it rubs the fender.

  13. We had a 70 Satellite wagon, metallic green and woodgrain, with a 318, brand new. Had a lot of fun in that family hauler as a kid. The wife's family had 71 Satellite wagon, metallic blue. Great times.

  14. I had a 70 Satellite when I was 16 with a 318. I kept breaking motor mounts from hard take offs and burnouts. An old guy told me to chain it down on that side which I did. Problem solved. Mine also had turn signals on top of the hood/quarter panels.
