  1. The R7 is a very cool bike…….BUT……I can't believe Yamaha called this an "R" considering the original R7 and my 1997 Carb'd GSXR 600, emphasis on the "600" made 95 horsepower at the wheel on the dyno. Not trying to rag on the R7, I think it's a cool bike and would be loads of fun on a tight twisty road or tight twisty track but come on Yamaha. For you keyboard hero's out there I raced CCS and WERA back in the day on that 97 GSXR so don't come at me with the whole "you can't take advantage of that 600" BS. This is a MT-07R model. That is what it really is.

  2. yamaha definitely failed on this one. it’s not a true R7 and is not deserving of the name plate. nothing wrong with motorcycle but it should have a different name.

  3. Why do people keeping saying this will replace the R6?. This is the same engine(CP2) as the MT07, Tracer 700 and Tenere 700. The R9 will replace the R6. The R9 will be faster with a broader power band and one less cylinder. It's part of Yamaha moving everything to their very successful "CP" line of engines.
