The Victoria Day Weekend Spectacular is officially taking over Toronto Motorsports Park from May 15th to the 17th, 2026, and we are bringing one of the most extreme exhibition vehicles on the planet to Cayuga Dragway. Prepare for a massive sensory overload as Rick and Piper Ream bring their legendary 1950 Bullet Nose Studebaker Wheelstander to the premier NHRA-sanctioned quarter-mile drag strip in Canada. Affectionately known across the global drag racing community as the “Hot Rod Fire Truck,” this highly modified exhibition machine is engineered to do exactly one thing: carry the front wheels through the air for the entire length of the quarter-mile track while putting on an unforgettable, fire-breathing show.
Hailing from Mansfield, Ohio, driver Rick Ream—known on the track as “The Shoe”—brings an incredible real-world background to the staging lanes. As a former state trooper, Air Force serviceman, EMT, and firefighter, Rick has spent his life running toward the danger. Now, he channels that adrenaline into navigating a multi-thousand-pound drag vehicle down a narrow strip of asphalt with the nose pointed directly at the sky. Driving a wheelstander is a masterclass in extreme multi-tasking and spatial awareness. Because the front windshield is completely useless during a pass, Rick expertly manages nearly 15 different controls inside the cockpit while physically navigating the track by looking through a specialized window cut into the car’s floor to see the center line ahead of him. It is a thrilling spectacle of precision, skill, and pure adrenaline.
The mechanical engineering behind the 1950 Studebaker Bullet Nose Wheelstander is nothing short of spectacular. Sitting on a custom-built tube-frame drag racing chassis, the vehicle features a heavily modified body styled as a vintage fire truck. To achieve perfect weight distribution for sustained wheelies, the drivetrain features a rear-mounted engine setup paired with a solid rear axle for maximum stability under immense torque. Powering this beast is a supercharged big-block V8 engine that runs exclusively on high-octane racing fuel or methanol, pushing an estimated 1,500+ horsepower to the massive rear slicks. Heavy-duty wheelie bars outfitted with titanium skid plates act as the pivot point, allowing the Studebaker to ride the bumper at triple-digit speeds without flipping over backward.
But the Hot Rod Fire Truck is not just about raw horsepower; it is about maximum showmanship. As Rick wheel-stands down the entire track, sparks fly violently from the custom front fenders, massive flames roar from the exhaust headers, and fireworks shoot directly into the night sky. To complete the ultimate exhibition package, the truck is fully equipped with wailing sirens and flashing emergency lights, paying a high-speed homage to Rick’s background as a first responder. When this truck stages under the lights at Toronto Motorsports Park, the grandstands absolutely erupt.
The Victoria Day Weekend Spectacular at Toronto Motorsports Park is the undisputed kickoff to the 2026 Canadian summer racing season. Alongside the incredible wheel-standing action from Rick and Piper Ream, the weekend will heavily feature elite quarter-mile competition with the NHRA National Open and the John Scotti Canadian Championship Series lighting up the strip. Our massive 2026 track schedule is engineered for extreme motorsports, featuring the Canada Heads Up Shootout, True North Gassers, Canadian Nitro Nationals, Ontario Grudge Wars, Ontario Street Outlaws No Prep, and Pro Mod racing. Whether you are running a 5.50 Index bracket racing setup, a classic nostalgia gasser, or simply coming to watch a fire truck do a quarter-mile wheelie, Cayuga Dragway offers the best facility and entertainment in Ontario.
