This is all just so next level for me. I understand quite a bit about combustion engines, but this is just a whole new world. I can work with what I have, but I don’t have the vision required for such greatness. Thanks for sharing such thorough information and bringing us through the process.
Steve. You might want to think about putting a slightly rougher surface finish on that plunger. It's a bearing way of sorts, so it may help to have some high spots to skate across.
Steve, great videos! Love watching them. Just joined the membership side of the channel. On topic of Cleetus' engine, i mught be late to the party, but g-force and tire shake can reek havoc. Do you think possibly baffles and or welds inside his oil tank could be failing putting fragments through the pressure side of the pump? I might be wrong but doesnt the oil go through the filter before entering the enigine? Also what about cleanliness of the oil lines? Was system flushed when the engine was removed? These are all questions ive had during this series on this engine
Gotta love the ones saying oh it would be a waste to build a high compression high hp NA build u can do it with an oe iron block blah blah ok then why don't u see guys all building an oe block. Oh that's right they don't hold that kind of power. There's no reason Steve couldn't turn it to 9k or 9500 and at 14 14.5:1 compression it could make 1200hp or more NA possibly. And those idiots saying cylinder pressure would be way lower than what engine could take yes n no. It's then a matter of limit of pistons n rods for cylinder pressure. What do u think limits nitrous guys from running more than they do. Cylinder pressure most times. Or traction but still. I'd love to see Steve turn this into as high a compression as he can make it giant cam and ALL the nitrous. Steve built the first drivable water cooled streetable engine that'll take 70+ lb of boost. I wanna see him take this very capable platform and turn it into the baddest nitrous plant on the planet. He should be spraying 3500 shots on 5 kits making 4500 with nitrous if this motor is so above and beyond for the NA world. If it's so above and beyond atmospheric pressure it should swallow a 3500 or 4000 shot no prob right. That's what y'all are saying on here oh it's a waste blah blah. As it sits yes. Some tweaking n no
You didn't say anything you have not explained why your very expensive engines keep blowing up and costing cleetus races and titles, if I were him I would be pretty ticked off at the reliability of SME.
Just a thought, maybe Cleetus has some garbage stuff in his oil reservoir tank. Maybe check that. wouldnt metal go down to the bottom of the tank, and get recirculated?
I’ve seen this happen before, you need to make sure all the oil lines and the oil reservoir on Mullet are spotlessly clean before connecting them back up to the motor or it will happen again.
Love these raw style of vids u make steve. Have a good one. From down under
what afr do you like with the methanol?
Steve I see people drilling dimples like golfballs in the side of pistons for bet lubrication and lightening would this work or is it bs
What's up with them turbos then?
Steve …Use gloves with Brake Cleaner !!
Same oil pump? Don’t trust it
Bravo sir… you are a pioneer
Steve a man of your word thanks JP
1k hp na is nuts for that setup. Great work.
Put that BELL on it.
Love this channel, send it out to all your friends, it should be heaps bigger.
Love the "OCD" valve cover wipe at 33:25 lol
You need to do voice overs in the time lapse and tall us what is going on, makes them more fun to watch. Kevin from KSR does it and its awesome 🙂

Hey Steve, do you have a vajeo of a Supercharged SMX?
Hilarious how clearly and over the top you explain what is happening and you still will get guys in the comments “explaining” to you.
So was the oil bypass, correct?
STEVE, MAKE SURE CLEETUS changes the OIL COOLER! it traps metal till it’s running!

oh hes gonna let her eat!
Thanks again for spending the time to make these videos, love the engine and drivetrain forensics. When’s Kyle going to run the Mustang?
I'm all hoping for the Best outcome,…. But if No parts, pieces or Clearance is Changed, Isn't the Same metal Flakes gonna happen Again ??
Your engines are a work of art good sir!!!

I got the same high visibility screw driver set from snap-on.
Thanks for the level of detail you give us there steve, all the nitty gritty is actually interesting

If you built a n/a engine what was the HP on it
Pretty dam shoddy to use a flat screwdriver to poke the plunger out, OMFG what a cowboy job !
love that glass at 12:15

By the way , Steve you are one awesome man!! Great mind, and a Great peronality!! Thanks for educating us!!
aluminum in the filter in the beginning it was probably the oil tank or a bad milled fitting or something simple.
Curious why you don’t have an air cleaner/cool air fed into the engine when in the Dyno cell?
