This week at 187 Customs, we’re headed to Newport Raceway in Arkansas for the Tailgate Throwdown ALL TRUCK NO PREP race!
We’ve raced ShopTruck plenty of times, but we’ve never taken it no-prep racing with this setup. We really didn’t know what to expect, so we had to get out there, make some test passes, look at the data, and figure out how to make this thing work on a completely different racing surface.
With a full field of trucks and some seriously fast competition, we had our work cut out for us!
But before heading to Arkansas, we had plenty going on back at 187 Customs!
Aiden finally got to make his first passes in his Chevelle with the twin-turbo LS setup! We headed out to Thunder Valley Raceway Park to see what it would do, but between traction problems, a broken belt, and some unexpected issues, things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
Shawn also made a few passes in his LSA-swapped Caprice PPV and ended up in a little grudge race against a Trackhawk!
Back at the shop, we made more progress on Shawn’s ’68 Camaro, getting the fuel system, transmission lines, wiring, and other pieces sorted out as we get closer to firing it up. We also worked on the Caprice PPV giveaway car, and Shawn’s ’55 is finally back together and running after freshening up the engine!
From working on cars in the shop to making passes at Thunder Valley and taking ShopTruck no-prep racing in Arkansas, it was another busy week around here!
