Before social media, before cell phones, and when a 300-horsepower muscle car was considered seriously fast, a generation of car guys built a culture around muscle cars, cruising, wrenching, and sometimes street racing.
In this episode of Between the Wheels, we travel back to Sudbury, Ontario, to hear the stories directly from three people who lived it.
Giles takes us back to his teenage years, when he owned a 1972 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum with a 4-speed and Dana 60, and tells us what it was like lining up against other muscle cars, dealing with police, and eventually taking that same passion to the drag strip.
Then we meet Cooter and Brian, two longtime car guys with decades of history behind them. They share stories about their cars, street racing, grudge matches, tuning, car clubs, drag strips, and the friendships that grew out of the hobby.
We also revisit some of the old locations where the racing took place and hear how the scene eventually changed as organized racing and airport events became alternatives.

But this isn’t a video promoting street racing.
It’s about preserving the history of a generation of Canadian muscle car enthusiasts and documenting stories that could otherwise disappear.
Because these aren’t just stories about cars.
They’re stories about people, friendships, communities, adrenaline, and a time in automotive history that will never come back.
And there’s still so much history out there.
