Andy Raw’s Nitro Bug is half-Volkswagen Beetle and half-finely tuned drag racing car, with over 6000bhp under its bonnet.
Nitro Bug is powered by a 500ci 8.5L Hemi with a 6/71 Super Charger, capable of 6000bhp, and 5 second 1/4 miles.
It has a 21 Gallon a minute nitro fuel pump, running on a mixture that’s usually 85–90% nitromethane and 10–15% methanol, which will burn through about 50 litres per run !!

first
What a totally nice bloke Andy is .
The baddest bug on the planet !
Fantastic Funny Car!
It may be the only current one, but it’s not the first. Warren Gunter had a Bug bodied nitro funny car in the late 60s through the early 70s known as the Durachrome Bug powered by a nitro fueled big bloc chevy. I’m not taking anything away from this one. It’s well built and hauls the mail as it should and a great looking Bug.
Massive? The WORST problem with running that car is wheelbase size. It's thin and if he get hit with wind along with some shifty track, that car is going to take him on a bobsled run, just with no ice, no bobsled and no soft landing snow at the end.
I saw the headline and was expecting a wobble palte VW engine. With cylinder heads spraying into the crowd.
What events will they run this year?
