Back in 62 I got a 49 Ford that had a mild build and it drank oil …I tore it down and found it had Merc crank was bored 3 5/16 with 3 ring pistons every thing looked good cylinders check ok so just dingle berried them and new rings and while they were out new inserts. I ran it hard the year I had it and it didn't burn anymore excessive oil.
I understand swapping the heads and intake from the hot rod engine for cosmetic purposes, but cam swap? Can’t believe worth the hassle..whassup?
Hope that engine works out for you. Seems to me , another 2 hours you could have thrown a set of rings in it and make a fresh engine of it. And give the valves a quick lapp. Your putting a lot of work in an old worn engine.
