STRIP And FAIL – Mistakes Where Made, Total Drivetrain Removal. 1956 Chevrolet Wagon

1956 Chevy Wagon is on the chopping block. Turning the wagon into a long haul cruiser means we need to tweak the running gear. By tweak, I mean yard everything completely out and start fresh.

The 350 Chev will be replaced with a 6.0 ls. The th350 is making room for a rebuilt 700r4 and the stock rear end is being swapped for a “modern” 10 bolt.

Like every other day/project we run into a few struggles.

  1. I'm gonna be welding a nut to my engine evener soon here so it's impact gun ready. I'll definitely be watching for pointers so I'm ready to put an LS and 4 speed into my tri-five. Any room for a turbo in there?

  2. bought a '57 one fifty 2dr wgn 283/glide in '67 for a hundred bux..popped gas and a battery in it and away we went…shoulda kept it but there was so much stuff back then like my friend who offered me his triple black '57 BelAir rag driver for 600 bux….but had no dough…had so many that are killer klassics now….

  3. V8 and an auto tranny at full extension and raised as high as Cheech n Chong on a Saturday night over a great trash strewn floor and you're shoving it around. I was afraid for you.

  4. That's a fact: Moog is sh*t, now. There was a time when Moog was a brand you could count on to be top notch like Timken. Now it is isn't even average, it is below average quality. It is just Chinese junk, now.

  5. The easiest way possible, seperate the engine and trans.sure more work but the lift is lighter by 200lbs,and less chance of having 600 lbs drop on the car,be safe at all times kids
