STREET WEEKEND 2023 – THE UK’S FIRST MULTI TRACK DRAG EVENT

After some planning both Santa Pod Raceway in Northampton and Melbourne Raceway in York got together and organised the UK’s first multi track drag event. Each car would have to complete a 1/4 mile run at Santa Pod Raceway, on the Friday, drive 200 miles, taking in two check points on the way, up to Melbourne Raceway in York. Complete an 1/8th mile run at Melbourne, and drive the 200 miles back to Santa Pod, taking in a further two more check points on the way. On the Sunday they would then complete a final 1/4 mile run at Santa Pod, before the times were added together, to see who had the lowest overall time.

Each competitor could do as many runs as they wanted at each location, but once happy they had done their best run, they had to submit that, and move on to the next location, with no further attempts allowed.

It was thought that about 20 cars might sign up for the first event, but in the end 86 did. There were no classes, just one big open event. However a lot of companies and individuals joined in to add price money for different categories, such as ‘Quickest FWD Car, Quickest AWD or Quickest Ford’, making it more exciting, and more to fight for.

I have had to cut out most of the interviews I did, as at one point the video was over 1 hour and 20 minutes long. I hope you enjoy the coverage, and remember to hit that subscribe button.

Please like the videos, subscribe, check out my facebook and Instagram pages and contact me if you are looking for a video of your vehicle. I may just have one 🙂
