In this video: how to replace a classic Mopar torsion bar; Holley 1920 rebuild tips and internal circuit identification; classic Mopar ignition circuit description and identification; early A body and B body Mopar size comparison; responses to comments on previous Stone Soup videos; and much more.
Well, this is it. I think. Maybe. I might be done with my part of the Stone Soup project for @FunctionalHistories . Now that I say that, I’ve realized there are at least five other things I should probably do. Like, for example, smash the Holley 1920 with a hammer like I promised in the last video, and install something that sucks less. Anyway, for today, let’s see about chipping away at some of the biggest problems on the Lancer, and try to achieve my goal of making it decent enough to drive onto a trailer and out of my life.
There is so much left to do on this car. We’d need a piece of cardboard as tall as my shop to write out everything that needs to be done. But compared to what we started with, it’s really getting places. So I guess I’ll just sit back and revel in that achievement.
The next channels that will have videos on Stone Soup are @heavensmopars , @thejunkyardnecromancer , and… @rocketresto ?

I LIKE it! I see a few things I like about it. For instance, it has the optional "Sunday Go to Meeting" Mufflers, Very Holy. Also it has the very rare, optional "Chia Pet" body panels. Just add water! You did say the comments have to be Brilliant going forward, so…
I never liked the looks, but still interesting and worth saving.
Bobby Bare reference? The Wonderful Soup Stone?
Got 3 . One raced in Argentina. Fact 4 spd Hyper Pack !
funny how people that have never even changed their own oil comment like they know shit!
so that's the garlic & onions with a little bacon fat of it, the basic elements for any soup recipe. Some toasted cumin seed would have been good, but you were hungry so….
That lancer is pretty cool! It’s awesome to see it kinda functional again. I’ve only seen one or two (maybe the same year valiant too) here in northeast Pennsylvania.
It's so weird it's cool….yeah, worth saving!
She's destined to be somebody's pride and joy for sure. As my dad would say " there's a ass for every seat"
I meant to reach out a few days ago but forgot. I have an early A-body Carter BBS (looks brand new or rebuilt) that I picked up when looking for one for a '70 Dart (before I snagged that 318 and cast 833OD from you).
Not planning to use it. It's yours if you want it.
You need a road repair jack hammer!Thumbs up.
Ps.i always use my wife's old marigolds
Eh… I've flogged worse. HA!!! It'll be fine/don't sweat the small stuff.
Regards as always… now I gotta go watch "Christine". Again.
I have a friend that has a shop & has some cars that you have
LOVE IT!
The big buzz is that it's a cool classic mopar it may not be every one's first choice but she will look good cruising down the road
Well at least it runs as good as it looks. A great lesson and just because you can do something. Doesnt mean you should do it.
You remind me of most of my friends in my younger years..we all drove old mopars because they were cheap and quick..I always get a smile
Arthur Brown reference, who the fuck are you?
That is a great project…. the nay sayers are the ones that never bought and fixed something like that to have a driver.
I think the stone soup concept is brilliant – everybody just puts in a little, and in the end you have a halfway decent (?) car. No one person has to slave away on this piece and get mad at it for long – share the wealth!
One thing I have learned…sometimes a free car can be the most expensive car you've ever owned!
We're a no kill car shelter, so anything that comes my way gets some type of triage before it either goes into the lineup or in someone else's hands. I like those Lancers, so we'd save it, but that's a decent enough start right there.
I’d peck away on that old car till it got to the point where people started saying it’s a mighty fine ride.If a part can be bought or made it’s worth saving.
Still have that 64 dart convertible?
this is an inspiration for my stone soup project
I'm impressed you got it running as well as you did! Looking forward to wrenching on this thing!
Also, I've been to Cut Rate Auto Parts. I was born in the town in which you reside, and I still have family there!
I personally love nitrile gloves. Always keep a box or 2 of them on hand. Cheaper than ruining good gloves especially for messing with fuel or greasy components.
I think some of these negative comments are just people "pissing for distance".
What kind of person names a car?
I'm quitting.
Stone Soup is a GREAT idea. Now whether someone is going to stop somewhere down the line once it's working much better and just feign "I don't know what happened I sent it to the next place two weeks ago" or not is yet to be seen. LOL.
Yes, I get the “Arthur Brown” reference. The Crazy World of… and their only hit – “Fire”.
Carb cleaner in the eye. Awesome! Feels great!
Great job looks fine to me all thats needed is a spit shine and polish.
That Lancer looks 100 times better than a challenger I saw restored on Graveyard Cars. Also you never who might actually want a Lancer because say their Dad owned one.
I had a friend back in the mid 1960's that owned a 1962 Dodge Lancer with the Hyper Pak Slant Six engine.
A friend of my brother's had a 62 Valiant that he had painted yellow and called it the "Bad Banana"!!
I think any old car deserves to live. They sure don't make them anymore!
