SPEED Review- Lotus Elan 26R – 1960s Battle Royale with VSCDA

Casey Putsch was honored by the president of the VSCDA with an opportunity to race his prized 1965 Lotus Elan built to 26r specifications by Don Hoevel Racing. Casey provides a full 360 Cam and stereo mic experience of the entire Genius Garage Invitational Race (named in honor of the educational charity Casey founded in 2013) at Grattan Raceway in Michigan. This is his first time driving a Lotus Elan and Casey is very careful to take care of the car. Casey starts from the back of the pack and narrowly wins the race after a multi lap battle royale with an Alfa Romeo Duetto. Three interviews at the end with Alex Rorke and other VSCDA members highlight the incredible camaraderie and sportsmanship of vintage racing at its finest. Follow the VSCDA on Facebook below! This organization is an incredibly warm and kind point of entry to historic racing for all.

  1. Man was waiting for this video and it did not disappoint it's amazing your really outdid yourself Casey Simple editing yet amazing content and the noise of these small cars are amazing and also massive shoutouts and huge respects to the President of the VSCDA Alex Rorke he's an absolute legend for doing this

  2. I have experience in HSR and yes, a fiberglass lotus Elan is quick.
The MG can be sneaky fast too, but the Alfa Romeo and a Triumph TR4 are my favorites in that class. They are gorgeous, graceful, and fast. A Datsun 510 will lay it down too.

  3. YES MAN! Video came out awesome! It was so cool meeting you and seeing you drive this track next to my VSCDA friends. Thank you so much for what you do. See you around! (Ps. I guess I’m gonna have to get one of these cameras now, cuz that looks and sounds amazing.)

  4. Casey, it was great having you at the event and fun running with you. The video is amazing, really gives a good feel as to what it's like out there. You did an impressive job editing the 360 video, that had to be a ton of work. The sound is awesome, I love the gear whine and sound of all of the cars. The shots in the paddock were really well done too. Hope to see you again and support your work. You are doing good things, getting hands-on experience for the younger generation that I hope will keep our sport strong.
