Smoky Mountain Small Bore Rally 2023 : Part 3 : Drag Racing! : These Groms Are Fast!

Join me on a trip to Townsend, Tennessee for the 2023 Smoky Mountain Small Bore Rally. I’m bringing my 94cc two-stroke scooter and my 2011 Yamaha TMAX 500. Ryan was there with his RC-One powered Honda MetRuck and his Kawasaki Ninja 250 with a two-stroke engine swap from a Yamaha RD250.

In Part 1, my two-stroke had a water pump malfunction on the first ride, causing it to overheat. The pump was later fixed in Part 2. In the second ride of the trip, Ryan melted a hole in one piston of his Ninja, leaving it dormant for the rest of the trip. Not a great start, but I made it to the Tail of the Dragon with my TMAX.

In this episode, we’re going drag racing! You’ll see the two-strokes racing and a whole bunch of small motorcycles tearing down the track. These little Groms are fast! Don’t miss this one and stay tuned to see the rest of the adventure.

This is just part three, so make sure you’re subscribed and have notifications turned on so you won’t miss anything! Please give the video a thumbs up if you enjoy it and leave me a comment. Thanks for watching!

  1. Short of the issues with my carb not wanting to stay in place it was a fun time at the track. I would’ve loved more scoots but hopefully they’ll show up next year.

  2. Do you think you would ever try the Scooter cannonball run across the country? Next one is in 2025. I would love to do it but I’m self-employed and summertime is my busy season.

  3. why is no one racing a real racebike like a yamaha r6 or r1.
all those low rpm , pretty "not too much sexy looking" naked bike. thats makes me sad 😉

  4. What is the distance of drag event? 1/4mile (402 meters)?
I am trying to compare my own times (raced a 50cc class on 201meters), best was low 11's…
Good rally, looks like it has been great fun!
