Drew on the Eclipse radiator hoses. Engines always take their coolant in through the bottom hose and then back out to the radiator through the upper hose. They're designed this way so that when it's low on coolant there's still flow. Because if the engine draws water in through the upper hose the engine will overheat and run dry just from the radiator having the fluid level drop below the upper neck. That being said a few companies have tried to make reverse flow engines only for them to all be considered massive failures. The reverse flow SBC actually has kits made for it to make it flow the correct way because the reverse flow design was that terrible.
