In this video we have some coverage of the small tire class at the maple grove no prep event held in mohnton, PA. We start off with a turbo black camaro that was struggling during testing but went up against a fast fox body mustang. They both launched as the black camaro looses traction off the bat while the fox body mustang was gaining alot of wheel speed as he lost control of his car hitting one side of the wall. Upon impact the fox body mustang goes air borne and hits the other side of the wall hard. It was so hard the wall moved over a foot from its orginial place. Jeff Lutz among others were there in disbelief about how much damage the mustang caused during its run. With an ordinary eye it looks like the driver was serious hurt but walked away thanks to safety equipement that we outlined in the video to help viewers prepare for the unexpected at a race. One car was 78-79 Monte Carlo not a mustang
Looks like the track sucks.
I hate seeing someone wreck their car but on the other hand, everytime a foxbody crashes the value of mine goes up…
at 3:45 you could see a spot in the track where the mustang lost traction. there is is your safety concern
You will see alot more crashes with a small tire class this year.
He broke his back and still in hospital. Injuries were not minor.
"Driver received minor injuries. Nothing severe."
Wanna' bet? You might want to contact Carlos and ask him yourself.
In his words……….."Damage assessments:
4 broken vertebrae, extensive bruising to lower right back, extensive chest injuries, abnormal heart beat(a-fib) and nerve damage to my thighs and knees."
Get your facts, nothing severe? You have no clue!
Contact Carlos Sobrino about his injuries definitely not minor injuries.
