If people think that Damon’s big block Chevy block – is illegal and should be closer to a production engine – then all the engines who are considered Hemi’s – need to buy a 426 hemi block.
It is almost impossible to cheat long term in racing these days. All it would take is 1 protest and he would have to validate his combo to the tech ppl, which they should have already checked

Damon found a gray area in the rules, and with his car being 1969 or older he also gets a 25 pound weight reduction, and he’s not even using the biggest Procharger that you can use, Jeff lutz basically has almost the same combination Just in a TwinTurbo. Jeff don’t get the extra weight off because his car is newer then 69. I have no problem with Dame, he’s not cheating in my opinion, he found a gray area, and he took a vantage of it more power to him.

Damon is great for the sport. It shows a man can put together a car on a low budget and compete. If I remember right at the end of last year Howe was spitting funny colors out his exhaust at the starting line when questioned he said it fits the rules. They may address the issue but it fits the rules. Damon fits the rules, quit crying, step it up, and beat him. I am a Howe fan, but Mr. Howe what were you talking about last year when you were questioned? You improved greatly at the end of the year. What NPK says you can not have Damon does not have it. They let Howe run the year out last year.

FYI, there are no HP limits like you seem to suggest, just minimum car weights based on engine combo. If you can make 1000HP more than anyone else with same combo then you're golden (assuming you can transfer it all to the ground).

A 481X has a bigger bore space dimension than a big block chevy. Damon is using a billet block that is based off a BBC, same bore spacing. His heads will bolt up to a BBC. His heads are BBC style. There is no gray area. You can use aftermarket blocks that are based off OEM blocks and still remain in that category and that is exactly what Damon has done. You can use a Steve Morris SMX and that would fit the BBC platform (I think)
I wouldn't say Damon's, cheating and I really really like Damon, but a standard big block does not have crossbolts into anybody that actually knows about building engines. Cross bolts for your manger journals is a huge of advantage you could put way more horsepower through that motor then you could on a normal journal bolt pattern. I don't know if that's cheating. I'm not a part of the series but he's the only one that's claiming that he's running a stock big block from GM when GM never made a cross bolt main cap motor
And like I said in my last comment, I don't know if he's cheating or not but if he was cheating the producers would love it because they don't care about the racing aspect of it. They would love the drama from it all because that's what sells on TV and for stands, so they're going to drag it out as long as possible if he's disqualified or not

Did you even watch street outlaws? When Ryan first appeared he was a nobody and when he became a regular he struggled and when he finally got the hang of the fireball he started to become a favorite but he didn't just become one right away
