NEW BUILD: 1930’s Texaco Doodlebug (futuristic/streamlined) Truck

Alright, it’s time to get back to what we do best… which is fabricating something from nothing. The vision/inspiration for the build is the Texaco Doodlebug tanker truck.

The Texaco Doodlebug (also called the Diamond T Doodlebug) was a futuristic American tanker truck of the 1930s. The vehicles were streamlined and highly aerodynamic. The overall shape, a flattened half-cylinder rounded at the front and tapered at the end, has been described as a “pill” or “breadloaf”. The passenger cabin was blended into the body, and there were no fenders, hood, cowl, or running boards. The windshield was compound curved glass, quite advanced for the time. It stood only 6 feet (1.8 m) tall, very short for a tanker truck then or since.

⚠️ The 1958 Ford Thunderbird is currently at a standstill until certain mechanical components are dealt with. Jolene’s Bugatti is getting closer and closer. And before we start repairing the 1946/7 Ford we want to get an unbiased professional appraisal done as well as a quote by a local body shop on how much it will cost to bring it up to par ⚠️

  1. The more I set here an think about what you said we don't pay for shit .we spend a hr watching your video everytime you post one .yes it is for intertanment but my time is still worth something if we didn't watch your video you wouldn't get views an thats what gets you paid besides add revenue. I like watching your builds thats why I come back .but dont set there an tell me my time is not worth shit .views is what pays your bills.

  2. Your comment about viewers dropping off when you start sanding and priming is probably correct. I'd rather watch your fabrication than the paint prep work. I've learned a lot about the paint prep from watching you and have used it in my own projects. BUT, the fab is where it's really at for me! This truck will be an interesting build and I'll be watching every episode for sure. Just an idea: if you made one or both sides hinge upwards between the wheel wells, you'd have a unique rig for selling merchandise at car shows and swap meets.

  3. Thanks for explaining your point of view, I however would like to see some end results.. and I think that will keep your Youtube fans facinated. Even the ones that pay or send you stuff.. good luck to you and Jolene, for me I ve seen enough of your building talent and projects, no supprises there anymore for me. Enjoyed but it stays now in a loop…

  4. If you gotta know what happened to this, where did that go, what's happening with "it", will this that and the other thing be back……go watch a freaking soap opera. Get your fix there

  5. I like the variety of builds. Never stagnant or drawn-out over years. I bet you could make this like a future liner but show a mid engine V8 instead of jet engine..
