ye, the 2004 V10s maxed out at over 20k rpm, so fucking good
better than sex
Check the video called 'Matra V12 F1 Jacques Laffite onboard practice at Monza 1978' for some lower rev (compared to 2000s V10 engines) but awesome and powerful onboard footage.
Another Goose Bumping Engine Sound is the Mazda 787B
rotary engine 😉
They sound Pure
Witnessed it twice when I was young at Melbourne in 96' which was the first year they raced there and last year they used V12's if I remember correctly and again in 99' . The first time my mum came with us, she had me wearing construction-like earmuffs to 'protect my ears'. Needless to say, my dad threw those in the bin just as the race began. Best sound I've ever heard in my life. I wish they'd bring it back.
Like myself, Lewis would've had INSTANT flashbacks to his childhood hearing that sound.
Ian, check the onboard of Fernando Alonso driving that Renault R25 in Abu Dhabi – it's on Formula 1 channel
I certainly miss the v10 formula car sound. But those that are a fan of that sound, should also listen to the Judd powered BMW (V8) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyqJxXolico&t=43s
I'm a total car guy and i love race cars but the sound of F1 is a thing i rly don'T like. I also don't like the sounds of rotary engines and i know that people can't understand but it's just not my taste 😀
Have you seen the steering wheel of the F1 cars? That is a different complexity in itself
That's is the renault V-10 from 2005 Alonzo Renault V10 that's tha GOAT engine. Nothing beats that. Watch the Renault V-10
That engine IDLES at 9000 rpm. That's right! It's over 9000 lmao ha ha ha 😀
he is not even close and you can hear it already. when he goes past you…. your ears will have a problem later. but today few meters away you can talk on the phone cuz today they are not loud at all
Ian, and that's just only ONE … Imagine a whole grid full of v10s starting off the line. Luckily I've experienced this at my home GP in Melbourne ❤
I love the v10s but nothing does it for me like the v12s. Bossy has this great video on a 94 Ferrari F1 car that is amazing. It’s called the best sounding F1 engine or something. There’s a part from 2:50–3:15 that I just keep replaying over and over. The goosebumps are incredible. It’s sad that F1 cars don’t sound as emotive as they used to in the past. I hope they fix it for 2026.
It's was Alonso with his old Renault R25 V10

Lewis might have had some diva moments, but he's an all-round nice guy.
Watch Jeff Gordon testing an F1 car
React to the whole Alonso V10 demo run, the sound is mindblowing.
This was when Alonso did some hot laps in his old Renault and he let that engine scream, the sound was sooo good it vibrates your whole, body and the sounds ricocheting of the buildings is deafening but absolutely awesome….Really can’t beat those v10’s the smell is intoxicating too
I have a BMW e60 M5, V10 based off an F1 design, it sings and screams up to almost 9000 RPM.
There are many videos out there about V10 sound, but you have to watch this one bro….seriously…..!!! Cheers mate!

For me from the Mad Max original film.
His yellow interceptor engine was perfect sitting on the road side waiting for the Nightrider.
I heared this in real hat the 2006 GP of Europe at Nürburgring (GP Circuit). It was louder, than you can ever imagine! I had oropax-protect-plugs in my ears and even had to push them in stronger, so that it's not hurting anymore. And the sound even is vibrating the tribune and your stomach through the seats and soundwaves. Absolute crazy.
The ferrari f1 v10 was the best sounding engine from that era, theres a video here of an old F2004 V10 razzin around Monza the sound is epic – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLyqoX3LZrk&t=2s

Went to the US Grand Prix in Indy around 2002! The V10 Sound is BEYOND Incredible and some cars were louder than others were you had to cover your ears!
The only drawback of those sounds back in the day is that it was hard not to wake everyone up at 3 am trying to watch the races across the world.
the sound car https://youtu.be/aA3sYiA_59E
The first time I heard that wonderful sound live was in my first GP in Spain 2005 in Montmeló, we went to see Alonso (that race he finished third, the following year in 2006 we saw him again and he won the race, it was his two world titles ), and it is something impossible to forget, when we parked our car several kilometers away from the circuit and practice began while we were walking towards the entrance, and the sound from a distance was already impressive, but once inside and close to the track, incredible…
2005 was the last year for V10 engines, in 2006 they switched to V8, so I think Alonso is the only one who has won a world championship with each type of engine.
