Largest 3 Day Estate Sale In Years!! – 350 Cars & 700 Pallets of Parts!! – Mark Smith Estate

Mark Smith had one of the larger car collections on the East Coast, that was mostly housed in Lynchburg, VA. Unfortunately Mark passed away last November leaving this massive collection behind. Mark did donate a large portion of his nicer cars to museums, and even gifted a few to friends. The remaining cars and parts were auction off this past week and it was one of the largest auctions we have been to in a few years. The auction was held over 3 days with over 700 pallet loads of parts and 350+ cars sold, which doesn’t include the boats and boat parts! Matt and Mike filled their trailer with a whole bunch of great parts that they will take back to the warehouse and lay out in another video! Let us know in the comments below what your favorite car or part you saw in the auction!!

  1. Thank you so much for posting this video! I knew Mark Smith and was there for the first two auctions. I bought the 1931 Studebaker Commander 8 sedan….see 4:50. Very happy with my purchase!!

  2. I talked with a guy that toured all of his warehouses a few years ago. He supposedly had 1 of every Ford Model A built. There's another auction coming up in February.

  3. polk auctioneers is based in new paris, in. just a hop, skip and a jump from me. i've bought and sold some antique farm machinery and tractors through them at their main auction barn. that mc quay norris went for a crazy price, but that airstream blew my mind! mishawaka isn't far from where that studebaker engine started it's life in south bend. less than a dozen miles give or take. mr. smith obviously travelled all over to build that collection. so, you guys do what i do at auctions huh? any lot they're not getting bids on, i bid a couple bucks to get them started, and about half the time wind up with a ton of crap for next to nothing. i gotta say though, i haven't lost money yet doing that. after i get home and sort it out, there's always one thing in one of the boxes i resell that pays for the entire lot, plus some profit, and still have all the rest to find homes for. a couple of years ago, i wound up with over 30 boxes for less than a hundy, and so far have seen over a $500 ROI. some local auctioneers recognize me in the crowd and look me in the eye when things slow down for them, and i always throw up a hand on a twofer. it really pays to be that guy.
