Yeah the negotiations are getting goofy, but when you run straight up you get some LAME final races like when you have a 10.5 car end up against a 9.0 car… that makes for a shitty final race you know? Everyone is scared, there are not enough fast cars… the event packs the bleachers 3,000 people every week on a freaking THURSDAY and there are not enough fast cars to come give the King a good run for his money. Know anyone with cars to come race this guy and not have to ask for car lengths???
I understand the times factor, but don't these cars have to be insured and driven a distance of 30+ miles on back roads and highway,if not they should,if a car needs to be trailered then it's not a king of the "street" material to me, especially if it's not even a street legal and tagged vehicle..let's face it if you need a chute your far from being in a street driven vehicle..
Its not realistic for the show to make them make a cruise to prove the "street car" worthiness. The people that come to race have asked to be able to trailer their cars and so they let them. If there were badass cars banging down the door to race and didn't need trailers they would probably ban them. But since only a few people show to race I am ok with letting them decide. The Blue Capri and the Rosa Belle both claim they can drive on the street they just don't want to.
Every single persons definition of a street car is different. And the parachute thing? You HAVE to have the safety equipment to run wtvr number your car goes. So if you run in the 8's you need a parachute. It has nothing to do with the car being a "street car" whatsoever. If you don't have the safety equipment you dont get to run at the track its always been like that it has nothing to do with the event its an NHRA sanctioned track.

I dissagree because there are more variables at this event than the fastest each car has gone. Like how fast the rounds come at the end and how hot Phils car was for example. Plus the faster car has never been handicapped unreasonably like that. The true faster car should not be penaltied so much that it cannot win.

That car was not doing a 160mph 1/8th mile at that time and had just posted a nearly identical time as the othercar in the previous pass. The race should have been somewhere in the "3 and the move" range, in my opinion of course, but its not my show, I just watch.
