  1. I don't know that live would work, with them being an all day/weekend event. Drag racing is tough to do live, miss too much good stuff. But I would like to see them do a faster turnaround on episodes, getting the show out a week or two after the race.

  2. Given the level of investment that fielding a competitive NPK top 32 car, the driver contracts are essential. The sponser exposure is probably better in NPK since ALL of the passes are shown.
The NHRA is an unintentional benefactor of NPK. They have thier own business model and seem indifferent to any adjustments to it.
    Doubt me?
    Ask any NHRA sportsman racer.
Or anyone who ran Pro Stock Truck.
I cannot imagine anyone outside of TV trying to buy NPK and be successful. Try and find any other sanctioning body or series on TV.
    NMCA
    IHRA
They all are invisible on television.
You tube is how you see any of the "outlaw" or small tire shootouts. Big events like Yellow Bullet, Lights Out etc. get streamed.
To be on Discovery is about equal to FS1 or FS2. For that matter, try and follow NHRA's Pro Mod or Sportsman results on cable. You better have a DVR that has the capability to search.
For now, I think NPK isn't going anywhere.

  3. NPK my be sold but it was started to give the fans a chance to see the street outlaws in person. If listen to Reaper he gets TV money he has mentioned it in his videos. I think all the guys get money to show up. I truly don't see NPK being sold SOL will be the street stuff.

  4. Npk is low budget racers and small crews. If it gets sold to a live show provider majority of racers will leave and big money programs will take their place.

  5. NHRA does not allow it's drivers to street race.
Street outlaws/NPK must move from Mondays, because Monday night Football is killing it.
NPK must show ET, MPH, RT, etc.
Continue the Mega Cash Days, Team Competition, etc.
Eliminate any JJ's Arm drop – Chase is a race BS.

  6. How big of a role did the producer Mike Helmann who passed away during the filming of this past season 5 have ? You could tell how much the OG Street Outlaws revered the man. Will NPK be able to go on and survive if it's being bought by some conglomerate ?

  7. To be honest I'm gonna have to disagree NPK only exists because of NHRA from the tracks they run to all those chassis that either have a NHRA or IHRA certification and the insurance policies that those 2 series use NPK is more popular but NHRA and IHRA are the reason it exists

  8. Live would kill the show. People watch for the behind-the-scenes stuff. Also, the main event takes ALL day. To get that into a 3-4hour live coverage event would just mean that $$$$ would rule and all the upstarts would be gone immediately. Then it would be no different than NHRA and I can't even find NHRA on TV in my area so there you go…

  9. Hey sim was wondering if u heard Shawn and Ryan talking about going to Australia and it seems like it was for street outlaws on their latest YouTube videos. Whats ur take on this?

  10. NPK is really a Fan facing out growth of Street Outlaws. Too many fans were trying to attend the street-based shows. It’s basically a TV show with a live studio audience. Like Friends. The studio audience knows Monica kissed Chandler, but people still watch the show. Going to a live event requires a different type of production with a huge backend team of live video editing. Right now, the Street Outlaws and Pilgrim are getting the best of both worlds- fan interaction and a tv show payment from Discovery (remember pilgrim sells the show to discovery).

  11. The thing is, NPK wouldn’t even exist without the original street shows. The street shows are where most fans were introduced to all of these drivers and their characters. If you remember, NPK was created so that the fans had an opportunity to meet the Street Outlaws guys bc none of the street filming had fans.

Another thing, and as I’ve said before, NPK has jumped the shark . Why? The whole idea behind no prep racing, back of the track etc. was to give street racers something they could do at the track as most of the cars didn’t really fit any class of racing at the track. The first two seasons of NPK were pretty cool bc at least the cars were somewhat relatable. Someone like Chuck could compete and they win with a SBC, or Chief could win with his Pontiac motor. ( season 3 is wheee it REALLY started to change ) It’s now morphed into a thing where if you don’t have a 3-500k race car built specifically for no prep, you might as well not show up.

Look at some of the fan favorites like Monza, Kamikaze, Johnny Quick, Brian Davis etc. all of those guys were super fast on the street but stand no chance with their cars. Monzas no prep car should be ready by next season but, those other guys I mentioned likely won’t be back bc they simply don’t have far enough wallets to compete. Meanwhile, we are seeing more and more big money racers who have zero street cred like Odom, Kalee Mills and by next season, Paige Coughlin running NPK. As if Paige Coughlin will have ANY concerns about the cost of racing in this series. Big Chief predicted all of this 5 or 6 years ago on the podcast. There were/are some easy simple rules that could’ve been put in place that would’ve kept some parity and more importantly, the spirit of no prep intact. What we now see are full blown pro mods with the only tangible differences being steel roof and quarters. The first two seasons I would bet that the absolute fastest anyone went including Birdman, Murrilo, Ryan Larson ( even with his totally pro mod truck ) were in the 430-440 range . Now, if you can’t consistently run in the low to mid 3.80’s, your not gonna win. Even in season 3 which is the season we REALLY started seeing totally purpose built cars, the race Chief won, he ask Ryan before the race with Kye, “ what’s the absolute best pass do you think Kye can run?” Ryan told him “4.12” . So, since that time( 2019 ) they have gotten between 0.3 and 0.6 faster! That’s ALOT especially in the 1/8.

It’s no coincidence that around that same time, small tire back of the track no prep racing became HUGE. If the production company Pilgrim, could see past their noses, they would really take note of this. Look at some of the fast small tire guys who will also unload on the street and race any time, anywhere. SRC, Beaterbomb, Turbo John, Nikki Bobby, and the list is as long as your leg of guys out there doing it on a much much smaller budget in cars and trucks that are far and away more relatable than the cars on NPK. Not only has that type of racing exploded but, look at most of these racers following on social media and the huge energy they have. Many of them have 100-300k subs on their YouTube channels and all of those followers aren’t watching strictly for the races. Most of them would make great tv, and again, these guys and their struggles are RELATABLE!! If I had a production company, I would start up a small tire series and show, sign up a bunch of these racers with big social media platforms and I guarantee within one race season it would piss all overNPK ratings bc as I said earlier,, it was the OG shows that created NPK bc the audience got to feel as if they KNOW these guys . Pilgrim and Sam Korkis can bring in all of the big money racers they want but, it’s NEVER going to hit the viewers the way the real deal racers will. I mentioned Kalee Mills earlier. Now I have no problem with her at all and she seems like a fine young lady but, what does she REALLY bring to the show? Fast car? Absolutely, strong personality? Not so much. Identifiable with the average person? Nope bc there isn’t the struggle there. Same with Odom. Yes, he has a big personality but, he’s not going to move the needle on bringing new fans onboard or, bringing old fans back. I’m not throwing shade on any of them but I believe the thing that made the entire street outlaw franchise become so popular is the fact that the audience could relate to those people. Racers especially, could see a little of themselves in those folks. Most of us who either are racers or are car fans simply can’t identify with John Odom and his half million dollar car and his million dollar program.Just my two cents from lks

  12. I'm not sure that the purpose of a sale would be to show complete live racing from beginning to end. Currently, the Invitational races start in the bright daylight and seem to end with mostly empty stands in the dark of night. Most folks would not dedicate themselves to that much time for a TV show that wasn't named the Super bowl. The problem with the current series is that it is controlled by a TV production company rather than a racing organization. So Pilgrim is generating video content that is meant to be edited into precise blocks of time meant to be shown some time in the future. Whereas a racing organization like Nascar creates a live TV product for their races. But if that live product lasts 6 hours or more, who is going to watch it? Wouldn't it be better to have the races at each track stretched across two nights? Saturday would be the 16 first round races and Sunday all the other 15 races of the remaining four rounds. This means no more Monday NPK since people would need to be in the stands on a work day and school night.

  13. I believe it may become another race association like the NHRA and Pro Nitrous all the cars will have the same ci engine's and weight like NHRA is now. We're already seeing more and more regulations

  14. I was at Rockingham and a few cars didn't even have steel roof and quarters now. So they're turning into Pro stock cars. They've been Pro mods. It was just in the late 90's that a true pro mod then had steel roof and quarters
