Just amazing what you do Steve. Makes me realize what a dumb young man I was for not learning more then just changing cams and tuning carburetors rebuilding engines, Just amazing and very entertaining wish I had 1/10 of your knowledge. Thanks again for such a great video.
That's really impressive! I was expecting you to use the CNC machine to finish the combustion chambers, but the result from you doing it by hand is amazing.
@Steve Morris Engines why did you hand work the combustion chambers rather than just re contour them in your CNC mill? They did turn out great but just curious.
Priorities I guess, was the potential prize money worth way more then the cost of fixing the engine? Or vice versa? I'm guessing he's a moron! ahaahahha All good business for you! Congrats.
I remember when Kevin was welding tubes on Mullet and said something about 6 seconds. Me and one other commenter said it will take an SMX to do that. Well, we were half right. Mullet just ran consistent 6's, didn't take an SMX, but it took a Steve Morris engine to do it. Consistent 6's for Leroy? SM again required. We shall see…(Leroy no longer dragndrive helped the cause)
Sorry, to anyone who has to explain the repair over rebuying things. I like to think of it as recycling. As an aircraft mechanic, we would tear down and rebuild a jet (aluminum can) every so many thousand hours… people would freak out if they knew how many times an airplane was gutted and rebuilt with substantially the original equipment and how many are a ship of Theseus…
There are some less technical youtube channels out their that i have voiced opinion on and they get butt hurt. Your name proceeds you and with the knowledge and machining equipment you possess, it just blows my mind that people still question you. I am just sitting back in awe of this information and millions worth of equipment and the knowledge to set it up properly
I will add this comment to all the vids I watch. Your sons mustang project will bring more views. Or any conventional builds with the common sbc, sbf,bbc or bbf. You have great info that you touch on. Your top notch SME is over the top for most racers.
Over the last 10 years has drag racing become bigger and bigger? And is that due to the TV shows and YouTube? The reason why I ask is I work for my cousin and uncle and auto repair and 2001 my uncle drag race for the guys that work there all drag race and it was big then but it was more of an older guy sport and now young kids are really taking to drag racing and cars.
This was a bad ass episode. Amazing work with your hands on that head. Mind blowing skills.
Your porting & polishing music is great.
Does anyone know what grade of aluminum it will take to fix a window in a JP1 HEMI block?
I don't think it's a rant if it's true. Don't complain about made up global warming and throw away and buy new time and time again.
Steve, you guys Rock.

You should go over and help billy out on that street racing channel!!!!!!! Looks like he needs some Steve Morris help
I'm a believer in fix what can be fixed. It's a waist to trash everything

fricken mad skills

what sort of amps do you use to weld that head up ? do you have to pre-heat ?
I wish there was more people like u
I'm sorry if you've already answered this question but what was the original reason that Tom's motor torched the head? thank you

Hey Steve, is the aluminum welding rod made from the same material as the head?

I think repairing the head is alot cheaper than replacing it
Being a machinist myself I must say.that is a nice finish on the deck surface. The reflection of your hand tells all
i could just imagine what Morris could do with a Twin Cam or a M8 engine
Nice save Steve!! Looks great.
It sure takes some top notch machinery to build top notch engines!

Since you had to take 5 thousands off of this head you had to take 5 thousands off the undamaged head too?
I could watch you repair and manufacture engines all day. Great work!
"how to repair Tom Bailey's head" didn't think this was possible
pretty cool, good video like always
What brand burs do you recommend?
Hi.
Nice work,
Thanks
Is it strange I suddeny find a chunk of aluminum sexy?
Appericate you man!
3:40 ===> That's the point !! ♥♥♥
I’ve only been doing this for 25 years and never had a problem,
That's a top notch repair. Can't even tell it blew out the chamber there.
If you're able to fix it your a mechanic not a parts changer
What rods do you use for head repair?
