Genius Garage Final Video – Unapologetic 10 year TELL ALL – “Casey’s Charity Allegory” and Paradox

Casey Putsch personally offered a $50,000 reward including his Rolex GMT Master II, Gold, and Cash to someone who is able and qualified to take over his job of president and lead mentor at Genius Garage. After reading the applications, Casey tells everything he has learned about society and non-profit charities in a heartfelt and no holds barred speech and his own observations including “Casey’s Charity Allegory” and his charity paradox. This will be Casey’s last video on Genius Garage, but he will continue to mentor students when he is able on a case by case basis and look for ways to grow the organization as time goes on.

  1. Genius Garage needs a new board of directors.

I’ve experienced similar enough circumstances, and they suck. It’s painful and frustrating and I don’t make this comment to diminish your experiences. But the BoD has failed.

  2. Been a fan of your work and Genius Garage for a long time. I've always agreed with you on these things but this is where things are getting out of hand. Everything in the video makes sense up until you talk about how you're the only one who can do Genius Garage. Honestly, it looks like you just wasted a bunch of people's time to make that point. Even if you took away the award for taking your place, there would still be some good people who would apply to help keep it going. I think there are many of us, myself included that want to support you and what you do. However, most of us are not at the point where we can donate time or money to Genius Garage. I understand your frustration but having people put their time into applying just to say that it doesn't matter isn't a good look for you. I hope things get better for you and your family and when the time is right I'd like to help you continue what you've started.

  3. 10:00 "I never got a shot", it's not fair you keep crying foul with this. You got a test day at Indy in a prepped , modern formula car! Thats something only hundreds of people have experienced in this world. There's thousands of committed young racers that would kill for that chance. That was a shot for you, be grateful to have a punt! The pace wasn't there and it didn't work out, and theres nothing to be ashamed about that. You have to accept you weren't fast enough for these teams to take a chance with you. If there's no other racing results to judge you by, what else can you expect from them?

As for Genius Garage, I feel like you deserve to draw a salary from the assets/cash the organisation has. Your time/input makes the whole program possible, so you should be compensated for it. Perhaps too little too late but thats how it should be for you or whoever takes it forward.

Do applications get reviewed by all directors of the charity? Sounds like there are some serious applications to take the reigns but appears the offer was never realistically on the table.

  4. I said it before. We in a similar place in life. I can not give up in my case. And I don’t think you will. Make changes. Perseverance. Adapt and over come. It’s what we do. I watched the entire video and can feel the frustration in your voice. I’m there myself. I must lay off an employee and really don’t want to but have no choice. This economy is rough.

  5. It is remarkable at times how bad some people are at understanding social grace and the implications of the things they say to others; frankly you'd have to be pretty openly rude or a straight-up asshole to have your response actually be worse than someone casually implying that the time and work you put in to a non-profit organization, efforts that have almost certainly directly materially benefited said accuser, was really just an opportunistic ploy that you would use to rug-pull any benefactors as well as recipients to this non-profit so as to actually only enrich yourself. The gall to then try to directly call you out for setting the record straight on that accusation/implication, particularly when that clarification was civil, is astounding.

  6. Anybody can write their aspirations and ideals down, and talk about what they'd like to do, hope to do, etc. But how many can/have actually done any of those things they aspire to? How many could demonstrate that they were actually capable of making any of that happen in reality? I'm no better, I have aspirations and you've inspired me to take action on my ideas and try harder, and to stop overthinking, etc. But I know I couldn't do what you're doing, not yet at least.

I have been trying to start a STEM program, and did some educational sessions for multiple organizations, and I learned a lot from those, and have ideas how to do better in the future. But I also know I don't yet have the time and know-how yet to run such a program fully on my own, I would need help with the aspects I'm not good at yet. One thing I've learned in looking into helping people with STEM, is that so few people are willing to help. So few people these days will lift a finger to help anyone other than themselves.

I also notice something. People love helping kids be "smart" and "successful", because kids are cute, just like puppies and kittens. But as soon as you become an adult and actually succeed as they said they wanted you to, as soon as you actually out perform them in your own life (even though that was never your goal to upstage anyone), now they hate you, despise you, and want nothing to do with you. It's great when you're a kid, but as soon as you actually achieve the things they told you they wanted you to, they despise you. It's so hypocritical. Not everyone I've met is this way, but far too many are. Turns out, many who claim to want to help are truly just trying to stroke their own ego and show others how smart they are, but don't actually want others to surpass them, even though it's inevitable that each of us will be surpassed by someone else some day.

What also baffles me, is that when I was a kid, I'd have jumped at an opportunity to learn from someone like myself, you, etc. But no such people seemed to exist around me with knowledge of the things I had questions on. I had to do it the hard way and spend years figuring things out for myself through trial and error and persistence. So I want to be that resource for others in my community. But when I offer to just be there if/when they what to learn something, not one person will take me up on it, even people who profess to be interested in the same things I am, even people who I could help to succeed if they wanted. Even the people being offered help, don't seem to actually want it. It just baffles me. People are so good at being hypocritical.

  7. As much as I love what you do, charities are overall negative. They provide a place for some people to drop excess profits from for profit operations, and that also serves as a tool to push other agendas. They're not as honest as you seem to be.

  8. I have watched you achieve so much and understand how you feel. Good luck with your next phase, you will be lucky because of how hard you work (the harder you work the luckier you get).
Your country isn't the only one that behaves as you describe, I know that doesn't make it any better, but it highlights the way the world is these days.
If you ever make it to Perth Western Australia, reach out and I will take you and your family out for dinner and show you around. There is a lot to be grateful for in life.
    Take care and stay safe.

  9. Watching this video really gave me the clearest picture about Genius Garage and all I can say is that you did your part and your job you gave Genius Garage everything is it worth it? IDK it only you who can answer it and there's no one who will be able to get Genius Garage to the same vision you have you done your hardest and offered everything you had and more you have new and more important responsibilities you have a kid and need to give all to help her and raise her and Good luck and stay real and strong

  10. A real honest conversation. You just dont get that anymore. I appreciate you honest no bs conversations. Everyone should be scared of an honest man. As a mechanic who fell victim to college and being told I needed a degree to just fix cars. I clearly could have learned this stuff without the degree. Ive learned more from on the job experiences and the oddball stuff I do on my youtube channel. But I believed what i was told when I was 18. Took me a long time to pay those loans. Never thought about it like that until I really started watching your videos and reflecting on my own life. Thank you for that. Im glad you putting your foot down and not taking the shit anymore! I look forward to see what new adventures and passions you take on. Thank you and good luck!

  11. Ive been following your channel for a few years, words of wisdom ive picked up on is endless, i also do my part in the world to help others without anything in return. My sons have been taught to help others also without expectations of something in return. Helping people in general has been a passion of mine since i was younger ive literally gave my own shirt off of my back to help someone. Your one of the very select few channels that i follow whom are actually genuine n thats extremely hard to find these days.

  12. I do not csae about the reward Lest us help people Even the ungrstful ? I sm a sumiting san aplicsation for you to cobtine .
ANd shall donate my time ? The issue is money and and we shall figure out htat shyte togheter

  13. Interesting. I look at things from a "I worked my ass off to get where I'm at" point of view. Yet i also know the simplest of things can impact someone. Think about the kid in the back seat of his moms mini van. that's staring at your car because he has a hot wheel just like it. Give the kid a rev sure others might be annoyed, but the kid, yeah, smiles all day. That might be the one thing that drives the kid to become an automotive great. Casey, you are one of the great ones just because you are true to being human. GG will do just fine without all us crazys, but we do want to hear from you.

  14. I am proud to say I was able to listen to the whole video without feeling attacked.

I have an extensive background in racing and aviation, regularly teach classes on CAD, and generally do my best to improve the people around me.

I wish you were local so I could volunteer hours to help out. I do what I can to spread what I know to people at the local makerspaces, but Genius Garage would have been a perfect resume match.

I can also validate everything you have said about human nature. It continually breaks my heart, but I do what I can when I can.

    Keep making the world better.

  15. This video makes me wanna get filthy rich and then dump money on genius garage. It makes me genuinely sad that that filthy rich people can but don’t. And I wish the best for you. We need 100 times more people like you, never forget that.

  16. Instead of hiring one person who can do everything, why not hire several people who can do a few things? Instead of having one person work for free all of the time. How about a number of people work for free for a short part of their time? And maybe look into a way a way of having some type of personal income from the nonprofit that qualifies as part of the nonprofit’s expense. I know you’ve probably looked into this already, but maybe rethink it in a way that would help keep you afloat. Just some ideas I thought might help.

  17. Hey, maybe some time away from this insanity that is YouTube will do you some good =)

We'll still be here whenever you wander back, but IRL should always take precedence. Don't let the trolls and haters get to you =)

  18. Well said about FJB. Pandering to the woke does not provide for a productive society. Then, there are those that voted for him & still believe that he's doing a great job. No wonder that the 'entitled brat wife' of your former student sees things the way she does. She has been fully indoctrinated by the BS narrative. I commend you for what you are doing. I've been there in a different capacity & I know how much it can drain you.

  19. Yeah. The people who work for non-profits aren't valued as much as they should be. Especially pay wise. I've seen this personally, and it sucks. It sucks when you commit yourself so much to help young individuals get the knowledge and skills to hold a job and rebuild their life, you have to go home and worry about finances. There's no incentive. People in non-profits feel this more than ever given how broken our economy is.

  20. Potential for some amazing content over the years, but I rarely get through each vid.

I have never come across such an egotistical self promoter with such obvious mental health issues, who just loves the sound of their own voice to soap box at every opportunity.

Hand the whole thing over to someone who does not need such, rather than doing obvious tricks like this vid to feed your ego.

You choose to make these videos, no one forces you but then you constantly whines about it, playing a victim that does not even exist.

Genuine charitable organisers purposely keep themselves under the radar and just get on with it.

You are not churning out doctors for the third world etc just a hand full of kids now and again who like to play with cars. The wife you mentioned was spot on, these people fix all the donated cars for free simply so you can play with them at your leisure.

Get over it and seek help before you implode and also hurt the people around you who do care for you.

  21. Casey, I just wanted to say that you're a great influence to young people and have influenced me in many ways. To me Genius Garage and what it is doing for the world is important, but much more important I think is your honesty and what effect it has on the world. Thank You.

  22. Casey. I feel ya. Tired of giving giving. Being burned. Youve really been burned and scoffed at in a more selfless act than a lot of people. This is your thing way of giving. Your knowledge level is why no one who might apply would win. Those that have your kind of knowledge are doing their own thing. Which probably isnt as selfless as you.

I started out in high school as a volunteer in a mechanic shop. Sweeping floors, wiping down tools. Doing small tasks like sand blasting or just required removal of a part that was really straight forward. They got a clean shop. I got $5/hr and knowledge in the 90’s.

  23. You've achieved way more than most people your age & you've done it without taking advantage of others in the process. One thing that I have learned in sowing good seed, is that your harvest doesn't always come from the place that you sowed it. Others will recognise what you are doing & have already & will continue to do so. Persevere, even amidst the hate, which is evidence that you're doing something right. This video was worth watching through till the end.

  24. God bless every word coming out of your mouth.

The spoiled spouse dinner story is mind blowing. It's puzzling how on earth somebody having technical skills can fail so hard intellectually simply after their spouse grills them.

I watched almost every video (including rambling) you made in last two years and you said literally nothing surprising EXCEPT
I did not realize it's helping others which is how you get enemies.

I wish you get your way.
I wonder if you could do a for-profit too after all (regardless of being limited in what you can do between the 501c3 and for-profit).
I wonder if your past students can help you more.

You put big accent on hypocrisy but it's a detriment to anyone's mental health. There is no such inherent quality of a human, it's a current social phenomenon.
I am definitely not an authority in any way to you but please believe me that
if you start attributing bad deeds to stupidity, lack of experience and lack of understanding the world starts being a brighter place because you are then not fighting against human nature but against something that at least in theory is improvable.
Natural selection cannot make humans bad because for tens of thousands of years only those who cooperate, self-improve and educate were the ultimate survivors. Modern society gives more power to dumb people and that's literally the biggest (if not the only) reason why everything important around you is in shambles.
You have been expecting something from society what is mechanically incapable of because of
how dumb people who now have voice thanks to internet and urban culture are on average and
how little understanding people have about what parts of culture are necessary for everything good (their life, their safety, their home appliances, their clothes, their good looking surroundings, their health, their entertainment, their children's well being) they have around them.
All of this can be improved but only if you believe that it's caused by modern circumstances and not just people being bad.

You misidentified the Moriarty of modern society.

I swear it is important because I too has been seeing the destruction of my society (not in USA) as bad people doing bad things and I had huge mental issues because of that because I saw it as a one way street. I was then forced to cope with reality and I finally found out that there are no bad people, and in the end the productive and intelligent behaviour is inherent to human nature because it causes your children to survive better. I started loving people because of that, even those who caused my distress.
Or do I maybe misunderstand you? Let me know if I said anything of value to you.

  25. Casey, I've been following you for years and always wondered why you seemed so bitter at times. As a young man, I couldn't see far past "he's doing what I wish I had the money to do" and felt like you complained for no reason at times. I am proud to say how wrong I was for thinking so and appreciating now just how much you sacrifice to contribute to society. Your bravery to use your platform and time to help people is inspiring. Do you buddy. It's hard to do better, in my eyes. God speed in your future endeavors. I'll be here supporting.
