Could the main relay be going bad when the relay gets hot
Come to think of it that’s the first one I’ve seen him drive tell him he could have got it wrapped
So zip tieing that wire to the tie rid and and turning corners isnt going to be a rip it out issue? Got it!
We have the same problem whit some coils and 2 step. Many VW cop coils dose the same thing and wont 2step when hot. Next Day its fine for some runs maybe 3 and get hot and wont annymore. Make sure your coils are good buy 10 maybe 3 works

Put it on a power switch so only active when you need it. Ask Kyle how he did his cars
I had a similar issue where my race car wouldn’t go into two step due to the wiring that connects to the vss sensor being broken. Another situation I ran into was the car going into limp mode due to a sensor being bad. A bad sensor such as the tps, map, water temp, oil pressure can possibly cause this issue. A bad sensor would definitely explain when the car works great when the motor is cold, but starts to act up once the motor has warmed up.
You guys will get it figured out and once you do i gotta feeling the freedom civic will be a decent car for a no prep scene. Honestly this is exactly what me and my son want to do a build pretty similar to yours an start doing a no prep in Florida.

spent last weekend and the following week, started my 97 f350 OBS project. Removed the bed, Installed a Flatbed, as a one man operation the difficulty lining up the bed with the frame was a challenge. Not to mention the flatbed rails that line up to the truck frame rails, we 2 inches too narrow in the back and 1 and a half inch too narrow in the front. but i got it one and secured, installed a Power hungry Performance Tuner, really brought the old girl to life. Cheers from minnesota!

Try the two step when it's warm on the road in front of shop. Pointless bringing it to the track and trying to fix it there.
