We often like to dig for budget mods like this for foxbody mustangs. Undoubtfully one of the best budget mods to get. We Picked These at Swap Meet but didnt expect this…

Any chance you can dyno this thing before you slap a turbo on it?
I'm curious how this build would do in either my 95 F-250, or my 66 Galaxie project.
Like to see what they flow when your done. Fun video I like these ones.
Dang that a good price I just had to pay 800 for my gt40 heads to have new valves deck work done not including the springs. Did I get ripped ?
300 for machine work…. Dave must really like you if that includes the welding lol. Surprised you haven't played with the cheap China clone aluminum heads yet… You can get them bare pretty damn cheap… The dart clone/afr enforcer casting works pretty well and can be built with decent stuff for less then a grand still.
I got those same heads just not in that condition
been there. i bought a pair of gt40 irons that were HEAVILY ported on the exhaust side. i ended up just buying a set of afr185 for my 347 and these gt40 irons have been sitting in my garage for the past 10 years.
Wow that intake port was massive. Wonder how it’ll seal up for you… and that song: talk about a blast from the past. That’s from that old bmx movie Rad iirc (well it’s a remake anyway).
Dave’s the man! Wish I had a machinist half as cool. Thanks man
Trash. Get a used little set of TW hogged out aluminum heads…just saying.
I don't throw anything away either
On a small turbo motor I'd clean up the ports on a set of gt40p heads and soften the chambers around the exhaust valve ala David Visser style. Maybe upsized the valves also. Those heads are over ported for sure! Especially the bottom of the runners, probably destroyed some of the ports better qualities. Just my humble opinion, YMMV.
Thanks Neo I have the mechanic take off those weight on the 351 flywheel. So appreciate for the advice keep up the work on 351s
Thanks for that snip of Real Life's "Send Me An Angel" and the flash back to the bicycle dance in Rad…
We always enjoy Dave the mad scientist and the straight forward and to the point assessment of things. If I had one around here I would be happy. I think I might have found a candidate for that.
I cut my teeth on gt40 explorer heads from a year yard explorer with 244,000
Makes you wonder what the porter was attempting. I've got a pair of GT40 heads on my bench that I want to get ported & rebuilt myself. Hope to at some point this year.
First thing I'd do is check those throats and find the percentage. If those are too big these head will make no power. Only way to fix that is bigger valves
What happened to the tubular K member video that was coming soon???
Gotta be honest here. I would chunk those in the next scrap metal haul. Big ports do not mean big flow.
Gotta say that that was not a great buy. Those heads are junk as big ports are not necessarily great flowing ports. All you need to do is dress up the rough casting edges and maybe do some minor port matching on a low end build. Unless you have a flow bench setup, you have no idea what good/harm was done with jsuch an uncontrolled and massive hog out of material
