Forty inches of Obsession. Ford GT40

Welcome to Motor Relics.

On this channel we explore the history, design and cultural impact of classic cars from the 1950s to the early 2000s.

In 1963, Ford tried to simply buy Ferrari outright — and when Enzo Ferrari killed the deal at the last minute over control of the racing budget, Henry Ford II ordered his engineers to beat him at Le Mans instead, no matter the cost. This video covers how that grudge produced the GT40, the car that ended Ferrari’s six-year Le Mans winning streak and became the only American manufacturer ever to dominate the world’s toughest endurance race four years running.
