You never know what—or who—you’ll run into In the Aisles. In this episode, Derek from Vice Grip Garage talks to “Jackstand Jimmy”—mechanic, builder, drag racer and burnout connoisseur James Taal. James talks about his first experience as a fourteen-year-old racing his dad’s ’64 Chevy Nova, his suggestions on how to get into racing if you’re not already, and how he would absolutely never drive a Prius—even if it were given to him—except to drive it straight into the ocean.

I couldn't stop grinning through the whole interview, both James and Dererk have a very keen sense of humor. Lots of fun!
When Derek talks about a friend that always takes a nap in the staging lanes, he is definitely talking about Alex Taylor, 100% final answer.

Wanna see killa bee hit the drag strip
Awesome!!
I remember James helping our Guy out, on the fly, with some fuel fittings at a public event. I knew these two would hit it off…they’re very similar in style, likes, family life & cold snack appreciation. I’d love for these two to hook up on a project & see what comes out of it.
Listening to Derek and Jackstand talk about growing up learning to wrench and learn from failure is like hearing my own life story. I could listen to them talk all day.
