In this video I discuss piston rings, the materials they are constructed from, and which are best for a street engine. For racing applications looking for every last horsepower, the answer is different.

Beware of squirrels……
We can't help but be competitive but reality is far far too many over restored super performance ancient artifacts sit in the dark until the kids dump them for the expensive garage space. I maxed power in 2 engines and used HE pistons because of the power claim. Pistons detonated to pieces and ruined both blocks inside 4K miles each. I had them rebuilt but went to extreme super tuning so they are still happy but if I'd have used the Ford cast iron buckets they'd still be stomping chev 350s that claim 1500HP by the chrome air cleaners. I now only build super cruisers focused on torque curve, not HP. I occasionally run the performance cars because it is fun changing the planets rotation but the cruisers are the regular drivers.
Thanks. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
