I don't know if this will have any relevancy at all to your episode. I was watching "Legends of Stock Car Racing" the other night and found out that Smokey Yunick was a WWII Fighter Pilot. Did not know that. The WWII Vets took the racing to the next level seeking that thrill of living on the edge of life or death. Anywhere other than the edge is already dead. I thought it may be relevant to your episode so I thought I'd share. It is WAYYYY deeper than racing, different people have different reasons of course.
