  1. Buy a built powerglide and be done with it. You will need an overdrive for sick week long haul whether a PG or turbo400 anyway. So hear vendors probably the way to go.

  2. I can’t stop staring at that Studebaker‘s its got all the glass at least I think it’s glass (very rare and expensive)either way that’s a very interesting car I love seeing people build interesting cars

  3. Covid kicked my ass. Im glad i got the poke I cannot imagine had bad it would have been without it. Glad your good and getting better bro. I’m curious did fasterproms ever port a head out for you like they were going to if so how is it and are you still using it??

  4. Sorry to here about the trans issues, it is definitely frustrating when things come unraveled at a race when you spent so much time getting prepared. Good luck on the repairs

  5. As a Grassroots Motorsports subscriber and 2021 Challenge participant, I know what you're capable of. You're right, stuff breaks, but when you get a car sorted out, look out!

  6. Even though our fate was sealed when we drew Red Beard for second round the 28-10.5 shootout we still considered our weekend a success that we ran 6.80s in our daily driver consistently all weekend. You and your dad have lots of experience and a solid program, I'm sure you'll do a lot better next year.

  7. I knew from the very beginning when i started watching this channel that you and Red Beard would have problems hooking on Shitty Prep…Both cars are on a whole other level compared to the rest that were there…Glad i figured the event out before i drove 1000 plus miles….I would of never been able to get my low to mid 5 Duster down no matter what with that Prep plus street tires tearing it up

  8. We enjoyed the conversations we had with you guys. I hated that we all had transmission trouble I didn’t have a spare but I know to have one now lol hated not getting a single pass was gonna turn the car up. But there’s always the next one glad you guys made it home safely we were just happy to be there

  9. If there is a bright side…
transmissions usually fail because there was too much horsepower and it usually is the weakest link.
I just am curious, since you usually trailer the car why not a powerglide?
They can be built pretty much bulletproof and first gear has the proper ratio to hook on about any track anywhere. It will be more repeatable.

  10. @18:19 This is the very reason I got out of drag racing for the last 30 years!! Fix, break, fix, break, fix, break, money, money, money, fix, break, money, money. Yep, totally know the feeling!!

We're now building a new vehicle (an S10),. We're focused on running 11'os-10:90's, and that's all it's doing! It's being built as a go have fun, don't break the bank, bracket car, weekend street fun hotrod, and building to last for years! It's just for fun, and it's all about enjoying our build and project, to hell with all the money out-go, and all of the stress over how fast it is nonsense!!

Love what you do, but I totally understand the frustration! Peace!

  11. I feel for you, some race weekends make you want to take up gardening. I am part of the crew at a grass roots track in Canada. The traction compount price hit $1600 Cdn a barrel this year , if you can find any. We have a real good crew who know how to mix and apply it. It is rewarding when a 5.65 car owner brings us a best 60 ft, best et, best mph time slip ever.I feel for you on the trans brake, fluid temperature rising about 50 degrees per second is not good on a false light. Then to redo it before a cool down, ouch.

  12. I don't like to watch you suffer, I really do enjoy your honesty and perspective. I understand it so well, and yet, have I been able to put it so eloquently as you did. Great job!

  13. i'm almost afraid to see what the datsun could do with a stickier track, and a sturdier transmission. Are you guys going to switch to built transmissions, or a different transmission architecture entirely?

  14. Good racer don’t complain about the prep. Even our radial prep stuff here local we adjust the shocks to make it down or even do a bar adjustment. That track was one of the smoothest I’ve seen.

  15. I found your review of your experience truly enlightening. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, know they are respected. It was a pleasure meeting your family, and I look forward to following the trials and tribulations, as it's making your channel a fantastic resource for real-world solutions to real-world problems.
