Clutch Burners Podcast Episode 3 – Jonathan Atkins Tick Performance

This week we’re joined by Jonathan Atkins of Tick Performance! Jonathan just broke the h-pattern stick shift record in Florida, so he seems to know a thing or two about stick shift racing. Hang out with us as we pick Jonathan’s brain and switch to radials….

Your hosts Bill Armstrong and Rich Guido are veteran drag-n-drive stick shift racers. Together they make up a wealth of stick shift street car knowledge. They’ve competed Drag Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week, Sick Week, Midwest Drags, Miles of Mayhem, Street Car Takeover, and many more.

  1. Enjoyed the show! You can break parts with low HP and drag radials. I broke an axle in a car with less than 250 HP with DRs. I am glad to hear that my rpm flare after the shift might not be the worst thing ever. How do you decide when to pull the clutch and inspect it, or it's not broke don't fix it? I have a stock style clutch that smells burnt after a pass.

  2. Just so you know….Rob @ Advanced Clutches has had his clutches in NUMEROUS Pro-Stock cars! Some guy named Warren Johnson, Mark Pawuk, geez, I can’t remember the others. Oh, Erika Enders also. All went quicker with his units installed. You might also look into the Comp Eliminator market he sells too. Also Pro-Stock Motorcycle where Rob designed innovative MC clutches that were much quicker than previous brands. And an IHRA Mountain Motor PS? They can’t keep up with NHRA PS that’s 250+ inches smaller. To say one guy “only build's Stock / Super Stock” clutches and another "build's PS clutches” is narrow minded (and false). If you're going to have a Clutch channel, get the facts straight!
