Ian Hill Racing Productions announces the biggest news in Canadian drag racing history at Motorama 2026. The Canadian ProMod Drag Racing Series debuts with a massive $100,000 total purse bringing championship Pro Modified doorslammer racing to Toronto Motorsports Park and Grand Bend Motorplex across five championship events in the 2026 season.
SERIES BREAKDOWN
Five races with $20,000 purse per event totaling $100,000 in prize money. Eight car qualified fields with payouts extending to 12th qualifier means more racers earn money at every event. This groundbreaking partnership between Ian Hill Racing Productions, Toronto Motorsports Park, and Grand Bend Motorplex represents the future Canadian drag racers have demanded for years.
WHERE THE ACTION HAPPENS
Toronto Motorsports Park at 1040 Kohler Rd in Cayuga Ontario hosts four championship rounds including the Canadian Nitro Nationals, NHRA Open, NHRA Labour Day Nationals, plus two events running with the Canada Heads Up Shootout Series. Grand Bend Motorplex gets one marquee event at the Canadian Nationals during the July 31st August long weekend. The Canada Heads Up events also feature the new Quality Compressors sponsored 10.5 tire class bringing even more competitive doorslammer action to Ontario drag strips.
WHAT IS PROMOD DRAG RACING
Pro Modified is the premier doorslammer class in drag racing. These heavily modified production based cars run superchargers, turbochargers, or nitrous oxide systems producing over 3000 horsepower while maintaining recognizable muscle car silhouettes. ProMods run low five second elapsed times at speeds exceeding 250 miles per hour in the quarter mile. The tilting body design allows crew access to massive engines while preserving the street car appearance fans instantly recognize as Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs, and classic muscle iron.
THE VISION BECOMES REALITY
Ian Hill Racing Productions worked since August 2025 developing this series with critical support from racer and tuner Ralph Andreacci who planted the inception idea. Mike Vani from Toronto Motorsports Park and Greg Corey Herman General Manager of Grand Bend Motorplex committed track support making the $100,000 purse possible. This collaboration represents the biggest commitment to Canadian doorslammer drag racing in history.
Already twelve racers committed interest with four paid series memberships secured within 24 hours of registration opening at Motorama 2026. The goal attracts twenty to thirty ProMod entries per race including top United States teams crossing the border to compete against Canada’s strong ProMod contingent ready to defend home turf.
MOTORAMA 2026 HISTORIC ANNOUNCEMENT
This announcement happened March 2026 at Motorama the massive motorsports trade show in the Greater Toronto Area.
