My hats off to you Billy for being as nice as you are being about the engine builder.. you paid them alot of money and you should be able to trust them. They could have killed you and whoever you were racing.

Those are supposed to be press fitted and tack welded in some cases and also it should’ve been put in the crank horizontally not in the counter weight vertically sorry to see that happened to you

What are piss poor act from the engine builders, passing the buck, if he supplied that engine as are long motor i.e engine is closed it up, Sump Rocker covers on it, and he give out guarantee on workman ship on all including all machine work, he has the responsibility, for it coming apart, and the damage it has caused to you, time for him to stepped up and owned this, great add for his Business and his shit workman ship, then passing the buck WTF make it known all over what dog BOX PERFORMANCE really are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHAT ARE DOG ACT Box Performance you's are

Should be some hand engraved information on the front counterweight of your crankshaft. Information including date and reference to a balance card on file at the machine shop. I don't know of any machine shops that don't keep records of their balance jobs. I requested the balance information on my last balance job and have it at home to date. 2053-gram bob-weight on a BBC, piston weight, bearings etc… Always get a copy of the balance card.

What are they running 1/8 mile if that? What happened to 1/4 mile drag runs. We never had anything as hot as what they are running here but we always ran 1/4 mile+/- on the streets in the early to mid 70’s.

I had a 440 plymouth engine internally balanced with 2 slugs of mallory metal. The slugs were pressed in and they were recessed some and they were welded in. That was ramchargers machine shop back in the day. Definitely find a different machine shop.
In my heart I knew that look.. Ya just crashed.. your gathering your thoughts an preparing for what ya dont know as far as damage to the car.. All the while being thankful your still alive knowing as was said this was BILLY"S 1ST wreck… Knowing full well the time ..the sweat.. tears.. and in some cases beers.. in building or rebuilding cars. or motorcycles.. Not to Mention the money… To have a sponsor type builder not take full responsibility of whatever actions in their product.. Chaffs my backside.. All the while the gears are turning… I'm tryin to maintain.. an not reveal a flip side to what people know me to be.. and ya feel it when he says.. I'll let you guys make the decision for yourselves on that… Yeah he holding back what he would really want to say.. But this early in the game it too early to burn or scorch bridges with sponsors.. builders.. suppliers… Just knowing that company's name now makes assured they themselves just burned bridges with lot of customers.. Been me or anyone else Woulda lit the flame throwers and let the bridge burn an worry how to suffer the consequences after… Props to ya Bro keep it real and between the lines…

You folks have been much too magnanimous towards the engine builder. No one who knows anything about crankshaft balancing would put Mallory metal in a counterweight the way this was done precisely because of the danger it would do exactly as this piece has done. The danger of doing it this way is clearly demonstrated with this wreck and the engine builder needs to have their name smeared wide and far across the internet. They do not deserve to be protected by hiding who they are.
God was with you both. The wreck could have been so much worse. I thank God for His mercy on you both. The diaper is sooooo worth it but even it has limits. Keep racing and always be safe.
