Thank you to Summit Racing for being a rThank you to Summit Racing for being a returning partner for the 55! They have been here from the beginning of the build!
Parts Used:
Reid Off Road Case (Part # REI-SH400OFF)
Reid Bell Housing (Part # REI-BH001)
Reid Tail Housing (Part # REI-SH400HR)
Sonnax Smart-Tech Drum Module (Part # SOX-34555-01K)
Finally! The 55 is getting its own transmission! Since we first started this project, my goal was to build my own transmission and engine so dad can have his back for his Nova. It’s taken a little longer, but we finally have one of the components checked off the list. In this video we build my new Reid Case TH400 at Jake’s Performance. Check out some of the tricks he did for the build and learn about the new Smart-Tech Drum Module from Jake and Alan Pope. Video for the drum module is linked below!

Master class
You don’t soak the clutches in fluid before stacking it? I’m not a transmission builder by any stretch if the imagination, just noticed it and was wondering if there’s a reason
With how much wear is put on these drag transmissions during the driving portion of events, it almost seems worth it to bring a street transmission, setup your trans cooler lines with some dry-break fittings, and swap transmissions in and out between street and strip.
I love my 400s but they dont look quite like yours , nice piece.
I really think I’m the only guy that watches & says dam . Too hot to focus . Love fab work , paint, custom stuff , rad cars but . Too hot . I’ll shut up & act gay .
Auto trans are all magic and wizardry to me. Jake and your dad are both master magicians. Your own knowledge of transmissions is amazing too. Thanks for sharing this informative and interesting video.
19:13 So after reading the DESTRIONS…. (( OK Got it ))
Jake is a very brave man standing basically over top of a driveshaft that is going around 3000RPM and his family jewels is right next to the U-joint and the yolk of the driveshaft I have to say I would definitely be making a driveshaft hoop atleast but that doesn't stop any flying parts at all and what he needs for that is a small piece of thick lexan to mount off of something so he can put his head behind that and still be able to see everything he needs to see and be somewhat protected from flying shrapnel flying towards his head but he really just needs a sheet metal wall right at the U-joint to serve as a driveshaft containment
BEAUTIFUL PIECE MASTERPIECE IF YOU WILL
I can't wait until the 55 gets it's own heart and lungs especially now with the new transmission and tricks that Jake did to it I can't wait until you get everything dialed in from having everything new then it's time to see what it can do and go for the big numbers and your Dad needs to be cutting some weight out of the Nova so when he gets everything out of the 55 back he can freshen everything up and then he can go for a 6sec pass and then you go for a deep 6sec pass or faster if everything goes right
Keep them coming.
Merci.. for all.
Bring your Dad best idea ever
Hi to the Taylor's,
Awesome news!
I hope 100% proofs cut outs comes to a close as well, I keep thinking it's from a negative, or long negative that pulls on an extra volt or ohm that send an untracked code to cut out via a channel.
Exciting all round!
Take care .
Thanks
